More toppings do not a pizza make
by stewdogg42
If you want American pizza slathered in greasy processed cheese, dehydrated (just add water) tomato sauce, and a heavy cluttering of bland toppings then go to Pizza Hut or Dominos. Settebello is not for you and frankly, you probably won't like the pizza you have at Settebello.
However, if you want pizza the way it was intended to be; light, simple, flavorful, then go to Settebello. At Settebello you taste EVERY COMPONENT of the pizza: the crust, the tomatoes, the cheese, the flavorful toppings.
This pizza is the real deal. It tastes and smells exactly like the pizzas I ate in Italy. Cooked in a 900 degree stone oven with a little soot on the bottom. Perfetta!
All pizzas are one size: about 12" in diameter. They arrive at your table uncut. Each pizza serves one person.
-Margherita: My favorite. Simple elegance. Tomatoes, cheese, basil, and basta! It's all you need for an amazing tasting pizza. This pizza melts in your mouth. You've never tasted mozzerella like this.
-Diavola: The spicy devil. The roasted peppers make this pizza a gem. Just the right amount of garlic and spice. Perfect simple combination of meat and veggies.
-Settebello: a little cluttered in my opinion but still wonderful. The pine nuts give this pizza a refreshing texture.
-Lasagna pizza: Fresh, light ricotta cheese gives this pizza a flavor you won't forget. Again, simplicity is the key here. The roasted mushrooms are a perfect addition here. More toppings do not a pizza make.
-Del Cafone: (Translated: the fool's pizza) This pizza was a breath of fresh air. A perfect balance of spicy/sweet. Onions, garlic, basil, sausage. What isn't there to like about this one?
The word about this place is out. If you go during dinner time on the weekend prepare for a long wait. The pizzas come out quickly but you can still have to wait upwards of an hour for a table.
Wait times during lunch aren't nearly as long.
Buon appettito!
- Pros: Fresh ingredients, authentic taste, selection, location
- Cons: Lack of parking, long wait times on weekends
First the food and now the service

I have been hooked on Settebello's pizza for a couple of years now, however since the departure of their Italian Chef at the beginning of the year the quality of the pizza has declined. However the staff made me feel welcomed so I continue to go. I have been 3 or 4 times this past month and even the service is no longer there. That on top of the poor quality pizza is enough to send me back to The Pie. What has happened to this place it used to be so amazing.
- Pros: authentic
- Cons: inconsistant

i have been looking for a place like this, i love this place. it totally reminds me of my home in europe. service is good, pizzas and salads even better. the wine and beer are super, and atmosphere is always so up beat.
and you have to try the gellatos, they make 'em so good.
i just wish there was no wait for table but its worth it
- Pros: great pizza
- Cons: sometimes have to wait
Amazing! If you go once you will go back!

My wife and I have actually had pizza in Naples Italy, and this is as real as you can get. My best suggestion is to go when you're hungry. The pizzas are thin, but cover the whole plate. And trust me, you're not only going to want to eat the whole thing, you'll want to try their gelato afterwards, too. If you have never eaten a pizza and thought to yourself, "that was healthy", then I would highly recommend the Margarita pizza. Fresh mozzarella, crushed tomatos, olive oil, and fresh basil - what's not to love. Fortunately, I didn't stop with that one, though. We've been back about a dozen times and I am slowly working my way through their entire menu. My second best suggestion is to go during off-peak hours; the food is so good there is a waiting list otherwise. To top it all off, the owner is very nice and the atmosphere is upbeat and modern.
- Pros: You eat like you are in Naples, Italy!
- Cons: You park like you are in downtown Salt Lake.
So GOOD! I can't wait to go back!

Having only been to Italy once and never to Naples, I am no expert. Normally, I am a fan of Sbarro, I love thin pizza... Anyway, back to Settebello. I loved this place! The pizza is thin and delicious. My 8 yr. old son came with and he ate 4 pieces himself! I love the taste and amount of sauce, the cheese didn't have as much flavor as I like, but nonetheless, it was mmmmm, mmmmm, good! The basil tasted fresh and with a little extra on top, it just added to the flavor. After finishing one pizza, we quickly asked for another! Cooking time was minimal, so if you are looking for a quick and well-worth-it lunch, this is a great place! I went during the day and it wasn't full, so I don't know how it would be in the evening or on the weekend. But I fully intend to find out, and soon! I may just be addicted to this place! Which won't be great for my budget, but it is well worth it! It looked like the pizza was about 10 inches and it was about 10.00 for the basic, "cheese" pizza. (Which is called the Margherita.) But I recommend everyone try this place at least once! (I read other reviews and some complained about the "burnt" crust. It is the result of the wood-burning oven. From what I know, that makes it more authentic. There were spots of burnt, but, as someone who hates anything burnt, this was not bad and didn't really effect the taste for me. The other ingredients more than covered it up.) I am waiting to go back, and not patiently either!
Finally Real Italian Pizza in Salt Lake City

I miss Napoli ( Naples to everyone else ) after having spent a portion of my life there. One of the things I miss most was the food. This Pizza takes me back. It is so close to being 100% authentic, I would say it is like 97% of the way there, which considering how far away Italy is, it's close enough for me. The pizza is delicious.
The only complaint I had, had nothing to do with the pizza, it was that they used plain mozzerella on the Caprese, but considering mozzarella di bufala is a little more pricey and some people find it too powerful I understand its lack of use . However they seasoned the caprese perfectly, they added salt to the tomato before placing the mozzerella on so that the tomato flavor really came out and complimented the mozzerella. The perfect addition of Basil and Olive oil was just right too, so even though there was no mozzarella di bufala it was still very good. And the portion size of the caprese was good for the price.
One note, since these are thinner pizza's then the American ones and somewhat small you can probably eat one yourself, or at least 2/3rds of one. This can get a little expensive ( a Margherita will run you $10.00 ) but what it costs in price it makes up for in quality.
If real italian pizza is a must have then you have to go to SetteBello. I can't wait to go there again. Oh a margherita, che buona!!!!
- Pros: Delicious
- Cons: Parking can be hard to find, be prepared to walk a little if worse comes to worse
Best I've had
by joeymorgan
After returning from Naples and eating pizza there, I thought I would never be satisfied with pizza is the U.S again, especially pizza in Utah. We heard about Settebello's when it first opened and went down to try it. We were amazed at how favorably it compared with the pizza we had eaten at "da Michele" in Napes. We found ourselves in Naples again this past October and made the trek to "da Michele". Once again we were impressed how well Settebello measures up. To those that complained that the crust was burnt; that is exactly the way it came to our table in Naples. The main difference is they put a little more cheese on the pizza at Settebello. I hate to say this but I almost prefer the pizza at Settebello. It's also a lot closer.
- Pros: Best pizza in town. Very friendly staff.
- Cons: Very noisy and crowded on the weekend.
Flawless

Stellar pizza and gelato. The people who work there are really cool; especially the owner who took the time to make sure our meal was satisfactory and who was kind enough to suffer though a few of our stories of misadventure in Naples. This place really is one of Utah?s Best. I recommend the Diavola pizza and the Nutella gelato.
- Pros: Pizza - Best in Utah
- Cons: No Mtn Dew
Support Settebello... We need their pizza!

Settebello has brought authentic napoli style pizza to SLC. It is delicious and as a frequent diner I have to say the recent post on how they treat their staff unfairly is very disturbing. The manager is nothing but friendly, honest, and hard working. I am positive that the person who is attempting to boycott this establishment is probably a disgruntled ex-employee who is upset about losing such a wonderful job, and should just move on instead of dwelling over the fact that they got caught doing something inappropriate.
Thank you for bringing us your perfect pizza, it is amazing and I understand why it is so difficult to get in. I have to have my fix every few days, and the new gelateria addition is fantastic. It is just impossible to choose a flavor. FYI the manager told me to call down and put my name on the list before I come and I have never had to wait more then 5 to 10 minutes for a table. Try it! It works.
- Pros: Food is fast
Amazing Authentic Napoli Style Pizza
by knaturtle
This pizza is fantastic. I've tried LOADS of thin crust, wood-fired pizzas and have never found the like.
To the reviewers that call it "inauthentic," this restaurant is one that is actually certified by an organization from Italy aimed at preserving the integrity and authenticity of true Napoli style pizza. Many of the ingredients have to be imported from Italy, and they must follow strict guidelines about preparation (down to approved mixing machines) in order to qualify. Then an individual from the organization has to come and verify that it's all being done correctly. There are only a handful of restaurants in the U.S. that can claim this honor, and Salt Lake's Settebello is one of them. Check out their web site for the full story on this.
Maybe this kind of pizza just isn't your thing, but if you don't like this kind of pizza, you don't like authentic Napoli style pizza.
The wait time can be ridiculous, and I hate that they don't take reservations for parties smaller than eight. But this is, unfortunately, true of most Salt Lake restaurants.
- Pros: amazing food
- Cons: loud, long wait times, no reservations for parties smaller than eight
Super Pizza

Very friendly and slightly casual dining area. Very helpful menu and staff. The food is so fresh and so delicious! Some pizza places you'll order a good enough pizza but five bites later you're pretty much sick of it already. My friend and I were pleasantly surprised to keep going and in the end not feel gross and greased out. Such a great place! Go there. And go again!
- Pros: everything
- Cons: not enough parking!
