We had a wonderful experience at Aristo's
by debs0620
My daughter decided that Aristo's was where she wanted to celebrate her birthday. I was a little wary because of the reviews I read but I must say that we had a fabulous time. The food was excellent and we tried quit a variety. Our waitress was superb. The patio and live music just added to our enjoyment - just perfect.
- Pros: Great food and atmosphere
Don't waste your time or money!!

I cannot express how disappointed in this restaurant I was after reading a couple of good reviews!!! We were seated immediately, but unfortunately getting our food was another matter. The main course came 45 minutes AFTER we had eaten our appetizers. The waiter might have at least scored some points had he offered pita to keep us from gnawing our arms off between appetizer and the main course. The pita is excellent, but the amount given is nothing sort of stingy... it wasn't even proportionate to the hummus. The main course portions are extremely small and then to add insult to injury the food was terrible. The pork soulvaki was overcooked with a burnt exterior. The Boureki at $13.95 was to be kind BLAND. The cinnamon in the Mousaka was overwhelming and if you are smart you will save yourself the $6 DIFFERENCE on the gyros and go the local Greek fast food restaurant. You will be richer and a lot more satisfied.
- Pros: pita
- Cons: stingy with the pita, small portions, horrendous service
one of the most consistent restaurants in utah!

I have no idea what the reviewer means by ranch, I have eaten at aristo's for years, on a very regular basis. There is no ranch on any of their dishes, nor available for their salads. If you can't tell the difference between ranch and tzatziki (sp?), you shouldn't have the audacity to write a review. On to the important stuff, the food. Aristo's, like i said is one of the most consistent restaurants I visit in salt lake city. I have had most everything on the menu, the octopus app. is one of my favorites, and their thursday night patio grill menu is fantastic. Their greek salads, I absolutely love. You should try this paired with some lamb chops. I also reccomend their Mousaka and Pastitsio (sp?), while I am no expert on Greek authenticity, these are fantastically constructed dishes, that balance flavors very well. The best of all though, must be their rice pudding, i believe made by Aristo's mother, it is unstopable! I reccomend branching out here, utah, if you want a gyro, i think McDonalds may come out with one soon. Oh, and I think that Kari is one of their best servers, though you can't go wrong, servers are servers in utah, as noone stays anywhere very long anymore. This is one of the restaurants that does what it does, day in and day out to a T. I also hear a rumor that they are opeining on Sundays for dinner, and weekdays for breakfast.
- Pros: consistent food
- Cons: cant think of any
Attempts to be more than it really is

I have been to this restraunt twice but won't go back due to bad service. I loved the lemony rice soup and enjoyed the fried zucchini but I hate ranch dressing so the second time I went I requested marinara
instead, which was on the menu btw, the waitress warned me that the chef wouldn't do it for me but she'd ask. I was shocked when she came back and said that they wouldn't do it for me. My sweet husband went to Subway and brought me back marinara and I enjoyed my meal. I just can't go back. The lemon chicken was dry so the second time I ordered lamb and it was the worst I've ever had. It was tough, gamey and over-seasoned in an attempt to camouflage the poor quality.
- Pros: Great lemon rice soup, fried Zuc but entrees are subpar
- Cons: Horrible staff, snobby and unwilling to provide substitutions
GREAT GREEK EVENING AT ARISTO"S !
by ZHatchmo
I went to Aristo's this weekend, on the suggestion of a friend. I was a little reluctant because I don't eat red meat. I figured this would be one of those chicken, pork, beef restraunts.I looked it up Aristo's on this site, and read a bad review, before I went to join my friends. I recommended aganist going. I got out voted. I was looking for all of the bad service / bad selection problems and I didn't see it. I was suprised to find such a fish selection, Halibut, Talapia and Swordfish. We had fantasic wine and calamari. I ordered the swordfish which came with a greek salad, servred on two large skewers with rice and vegetables, baklava for desert. It was great, the service was friendly, and invivting. I will go back and I will recommend it.
basic fake Greek Food

Asked people where there is a good higher end Greek Restaurant. I was told about this place Aristo's by the university. Boy what a disaster, we could not find parking for over half an hour we searched. After walking over 4 blocks we entered the establishment, we were greeted as if they were so busy they could barely ge to us, the problem was there was only half full restaurant, we were seated and told about the specialties, we ordered from suggestions made. Our guests know Greek food, we waited over an hour and a half for our appetizers all the while no one came to our table to explain, when the apetizers arrived the portions and quality seemed fast food style just on plates. Our meals were ordered the food came out another 45 minutes later, typical cafe food on plates rather than paper. all in all would not recommend as a high end Greek restaurant. Fast food on real plates. nothing really in the upper scale "Greek Cuisine" my guests are used to in Houston, or Dallas. All in all Salt lake city needs a high end Greek Restaurant. Years ago used to take people to the Hungry i one of the best Greek restaurants I have ever been to. Too bad , it is no longer in Salt lake city, used to look forward to going there. 'All in all just another Greek fast food place trying to act like a real up scale Greek restaurant.....Bad service, slow service, parking problems, service time too long and food on the fast food scale......not a nice dining experience, i was a bit embarassed for my guests.....would not recommend as a nice upscale Greek cuisine as advertised.....
- Pros: Cheap Prices for real Plates
- Cons: Food Service Atmosphere and Owner Operator is not up to par for upscale concept
Don't waste your time - horrendous service!

After hearing many positive comments about Aristos we were really looking forward to our first visit. We arrived on time for our 6:30 p.m. reservation and were seated at a table in a far corner near a window. I was cold the entire evening. There were several other tables available. We decided on the "meat" appetizer and entrees. The server explained the appetizer would take 10 minutes. After 20 minutes we had to ask what had happened to our appetizer. The delays didn't stop there. While we waited for our food we observed the manager greeting others at the tables around us and bringing rounds of "shots." Our server finally came to us after an hour to apologize for the slow service, which she blamed on the kitchen being busy. She indicated the manager had gone to check on our meals. It was hard to see the problem when every table within sight was being served in a timely manner. When our entrees finally arrived we asked to have them put in take-out containers. Two hours is too long to wait for a meal! The manager didn't even have the courtesy to come talk to us. Good food doesn't make up for horrendous service. As a Greek who frequently gets asked for recommendations for good Greek restaurants in the area I will never recommend Aristos. On the contrary, I will take every opportunity to ensure family, friends and co-workers are steered clear of this catastrophe.
- Pros: Any good was overshadowed by the indifference of managment and terrible service.
- Cons: Horrendous service.
Great Greek Food For A Fair Price
by spenkun
I was introduced to Aristo's from a friend of mine who had friend working there. I was surprised and impresed at the atmosphere and the quality of the food. Then again at the bill, it wasn't nearly as expensive as it should have been. The food is excellent I have since had many items on the menu. the medallions are to die for and the chicken ala aristo is a classic. but, still my favorite to this day is the red tillapia it is divine. I thank Aristo for his kindness and for keeping my stomach full.
Great value

I am by no means a conniseur of greek food but recently enjoyed a late evening meal ta Aristo's.
As the previous reviewer pointed out, the interior is certainly more upscale than other Greek eateries. Less fo a fast food vibe and more a comfortable relaxing restaurant setting.
Service is fast and friendly. On my recent visit a slight error with my salad was corrected in a few short minutes with no fuss. Mistakes are invariably bound to occur from time to time, it is how they are dealt with that's important.
The menu covers the standard array of gyros, souvlaki and appetizers such as taramasalta. The menu also features some more traditional/authentic Greek dishes that I have yet to try. Also worthy of note is a fair amount of seafood on offer if your so inclined.
For me the great value for money makes Aristo's a winner. For $8.95 you can try their stomach filling beef/lamb gyro, served with a huge side of fries. The dish also comes with a fresh green salad with olives, finished off with a lovely greek dressing. You won't be leaving hungry, and for the price its hard to resist. The whole menu has such reasonably priced entrees all served with soup or salad.
My only complaint is Aristo's does not open Sunday evenings - typically the night we feel the least like staying home and cooking with the work week looming! This however is only a very small negative point. I would recommend you try Aristo's next time you need a tasty, filling and great priced meal.
- Pros: Great value, tasty greek food
- Cons: Poor parking
Good Greek Food

Aristo's provides an upscale Greek restaurant to Salt Lake City. The food is carefully prepared using traditional family recipes and is of consistent good quality.
