I came tumbling the Hobbs & Olson's law office staircase with a suitcase of legal documents over a civil matter with Weber State University. The University would not release to me the information I needed to correspond with US Immigration. They had also failed to acknowledge a legal USCIS document as legal, but dismissed the document as an error on the side of USCIS. Mr. Hobbs only smiled when I showed him the documents in the travel bag. "We might not need all of them at this point," he said. He asked me to explain what had happened. He looked at the documents recording my attempts to obtain the student records from Weber State University. He looked at the USCIS documents the University had failed to endorse. We agreed that he would write a letter to Weber State University and ask for a meeting with the relevant Univeristy officials, wait for the officials to respond and then proceed with his counsel. Mr Lincoln Hobbs told me the precise date he would draft the letter. When the draft was ready his secretary called and asked me if I wanted to look at the hard copy of the draft or whether the email would be sufficient. After I had seen the draft and agreed that it represented my concerns, the law firm mailed the letter to Weber State University and sent me a copy of the same letter. Along with the letter, the office attached a reminder on the course of action the office and I had entered to in my initial visit. Hobbs & Olson L.C. kept me informed at all levels of my case. This office is one of the very few in Salt Lake City where I received the most courteous but professional legal service. Not many times have I left an office feeling inspired to be of service to my fellow beings, feeling that I owe it to others to be just. Hobbs & Olson L.C. should be acclaimed for reaching out to others in ways that do not mar the integrity of the legal profession and of those who come to them in need.
