Not a very great place for kids

by Katrina Miller

I'm new to the city and found this place looking for a good children's dentist. They might want to try actually MEETING a kid some time. The office is like a converted office space. No art on the walls, no toys in the waiting room.

The dr's are abrupt and did nothing to connect with or calm a nervous child.

My daughter has had dental work done before (she is 7) with out a problem but when she cryed a little during the shot they said they couldn't do the procedure and had her come back after giving her meds to calm her.

On that try they placed the block that holds her mouth open on one of her loose teeth, she tryed to complain that it hurt, and rather than just adjust it, they said they wouldn't be able to do a simple filling with out fully sedating her!

On top of that their staff never has answers to my questions when I call, the messed up the billing, and don't return phone calls.

  • Cons: Worst "children's" dentist I have ever seen.

we love the kids place!!

by veryhappykids

My children have been going to the kids place for 5 years and we love it there the dentist are very caring and make my children feel safe which is very important cause as we all know the dentist can be a scary experience for little ones even big ones like me I wish I could go there also LOL !! :) The dental assistance are also wonderful they walk the kids through every thing they are doing and make them feel like they are in charge of everything that is happening to them .We see BRITTANY when we go in she has so far been the kids favorite !! We were in this week and talking afterward about how nice she is and how much they love going there ! I would recommend the kids place to everyone!

  • Pros: LOTS OF TLC!!
  • Cons: PARKING

Worth the 4000 mile trip.

by robyntp

I don't live in Utah and was in slc visiting family for about 10 days in June. When I called to make my appointment I told the receptionist my situation and she made sure to get me in at the begining of the trip so that there would be plenty of time to schedule a second appointment if needed. Being that I hadn't been to the dentist in about 7 years and my last dentist did a shoddy job, I knew there would be a second appointment. Dr. Rosander was so nice and understanding about my situation. What could have been streched out to 4 sessions was done in a two hour sitting. The assistants, Kristy and Amanda, were great. They helped keep my attention through the shots and then the drilling. They told stories and anecdotes and really kept me entertained while I was sitting there. I'm glad that I waited until this trip to go to the dentist. I will definitely go back to get the remainder of the work done on my next visit.

  • Pros: high tech, comfortable, friendly, cookies!
  • Cons: a little tricky to find

Caring and professional

by saltlakecity25

I took my daughters (5 and 3) here earlier this week. This wasn't their first dental experience, I had taken them to a different office before we moved to the area, but this was their first visit to this particular office. My older girl was remembered as "the screamer" at the previous office, so I was dreading the visit.

When we first went back (they got to go back together, and were the only patients seen at the time) the 5-year-old started to cry and freak out. The assistant was very smart to distract her with a picture--she then proceeded to explain that they needed a picture of her teeth (x-rays). She calmed down and that was the end of the struggle for the entire visit. I chalk it up to wonderful assistants--they praised the girls like crazy during each procedure (with high-fives after!) and who carefully explained each aspect of the visit (the moving chair is explained and a "ride" etc) and an uncluttered environment. There were prizes at the end and a movie playing in the waiting room, but not the "distractions" that I see in most pediatric offices.

They gave both girls a cleaning and x-rays, along with fluoride and a check-up. I was very pleased with the visit and will not dread the next check-up in 6 mos. I can finally take my girls in without dread of screaming and embarrassment.

  • Pros: exceptional staff, clean, not over-scheduled
  • Cons: parking

My daughter loved her appointment!

by isis916

This is my first review. My daughter recently had an appointment at A Kid's Place, and it was a struggle to convince her to go (she's terrified of dentists). Once we arrived, we found a soothing atmosphere complete with a fun movie for my daughter to watch. The hygenist came into the waithing room and introduced herself to my daughter and invited BOTH of us back (I have had appointments where I wasn't allowed to accompany my daughter). That was very nice to be able to be where my daughter could see me. The hygenist was very warm and friendly and cleaned her teeth quickly and efficiently. The hygenist also asked my daughter about her intrests and found that they both love ballet. This was an amazing experience for both myself and my daughter. My daughter felt safe and welcome, and she also had an efficient through check up and cleaning. I feel that this office knows how patients should be treated, I even made an appointment for myself! I highly recommend this practice!

  • Pros: Calm atmoshere; friendly, knowledgeable staff

A Horrible Place

by little03

This place is not a kids place! There is horrible service here and the assistants still do not know what they are doing considering they have been there more than a year and have been studying dental for two. They don't do a well job of cleaning teeth for adults or children and instead of being patient with the kids they send them to a different dentist to put them to sleep while they do their teeth and you end up paying more money. They also give the kids cookies after they are done cleaning their teeth and don't inform the parents to wait a half an hour before they are to eat or drink after a floride treatment. The dentists do not treat their assistants as colleagues and talk down to them. Last of all the number that is listed for them is a disconnected number but if you try to tell them it is wrong they think you are lying about it. I called the human resources rep. and informed him of the bad service and wrong telephone number and he flat out told me I was lying. They deny what they dont want to hear! I will never take my family here and I will always tell everyone what a bad place this is!
