Best dancing in SLC
by MisterMisterMister
I have been to all of the main dance clubs in SLC so I think my opinion is really informed. I go dancing every other weekend with my friends and W is by far our favorite place to go. We arrive around 10 or 11 and dance until 2, the best dancing is after midnight. Some of my friends drink, some of them don't, I feel comfortable bringing them all to W. The bar tenders are really good about giving everyone water while they dance their brains out, because you really need it when you are dancing hard. Lots of people smoke at W, but they smoke outside in this sort of patio thing, which is a big plus.
Great music on Fridays and Saturdays, I prefer Fridays. You might want to bring some ear plugs if you are in on Saturdays because the music always seems a bit too loud on Sat. On a good night there are lots of people dancing and really getting into the music. I try to avoid W when there is a big birthday party there, because the floor is filled with drunk people who can't move to a beat for their lives, but doesn't that happen at most clubs? I think it does.
Mostly I feel like W allows you to wear whatever kind of clothing you want to wear, dance however you want, and be whoever you want. Every club has a few people who are "too cool for school" but I feel like W isn't about fitting into a type, its more about having a good time and being yourself than any other club I have been to in SLC.
THE MUSIC AT THE W IS THE BEST!!! Thats why we keep coming back. It really is the best dancing in SLC. I love their electronic selections, mixes and live DJs. The owner is actively involved in the scene and there are enough staff thats it feels secure even though its a killer dance club. The floor isn't too big, but its not too small and there is usually enough room to move it on the dance floor. There are couches and chairs for people who want to chill and its pretty much the best Dance club ever.
- Pros: The smoking is outside, best DJS, best dancing, the environment is great
- Cons: If its someone's birthday there are lots of drunk people on the dance floor who can't dance for their lives, the music on Sat is too loud sometimes, bring ear plugs
Scened Out!
by choosetoride
Definition of scenester: Somehow finding a way to make your ugly features appear cool by wearing oversized glasses and tight t-shirts. The crowd is too cool for school. The kind of kids who got made fun of so bad in school, they became everything they hate. You know, the "Fixies" who ride by staring at themselves in any reflecting glass they may catch glimse of. Thinking about how well they know the world and how well they know their own ironic self image. Somehow forgetting so say "hello" or smile at anyone they may pass along the way. What a bore.
I don't think this place has ever allowed anyone to slip in without paying a cover. They're chintzy at that!
- Pros: There will be single girls there.
- Cons: Count on the five dollar cover.
Very cool scene and good dance tunes.

W is discovery I made about a year ago and it has been a consistent spot for me and my friends ever since.
I am not really sure what exactly it is about the scene there but it grows on you. There drinks are nothing special really, for me it is more about the music. They have a Trance friday, an amazing Deep House Saturday, and this cool Trip Hop sunday.
I don't know much about the music scene here in SLC ( I am from Denver) but they seem to know what poeple to get for each night.
If you go on a Saturday around 12 am be ready to sweat on the dance floor. When I am dancing I usually just get bottled domestic beers becuase it gets hot.
- Pros: Great dance scene. Good drink prices.
- Cons: Be ready to dance on the weekends because it gets crowded.
Hidden Treasure

My first time at the W lounge was great! Extremely friendly staff! They kept me entertained as I showed up early (10:00pm). Do come later, around 11:00pm. Aftewards the club was packed. Great music, Friday is Disco, Techno night. Great place to go with the girls if you want to be treated right, and not have drunken, horny, boys bothering you. The crowd was diverse, and wonderfuly friendly. Certainly a place to check out, if you not into impressing perfect strangers. Membership is required.
- Pros: Cozy, Friendly, Music, Great Crowd, Can Order Food From Mo's
- Cons: Two Bathrooms? I only saw one. There will be a line!
For those who know...

W. Lounge is pretty much Salt Lake's best little dance club. No matter where you are it's the best place to end up when you need to take your party to the next level. You're guaranteed a fun and frisky, mixed crowd. The bartenders are the best and the music is truly forward thinking. Try it, you'll like it!
- Pros: Good sound system, great patio, good times.
- Cons: Two bathrooms.
Wednesday and Friday nights are best.

Good music on Wednesdays and Fridays and typically fun any night. Haven't tried out Moonshine Mondays but mean to soon. Good crowd and usually not too crowded.
Small Restroom/Big Music
by kudi_utah
The night could be perfect at the W, however there is one small problem. If you need to use the restroom, you may find yourself standing in a line for litterally an hour easy. So the key is to grab your drink and stand in line, because by the time you need to use the restroom you'll be there. The music is great though, two thumbs up.
- Pros: smoke free, good music, sexy clientele
- Cons: small bathroom
no foes, always friends

do you love expressing yourself? do you covet comfort? check out W lounge.. never have you felt more comfortable, more alive--and perfectly secure. be there wednesday, friday, and saturday. you pay little for beer; shots are cheap; people are beautiful; and dancing is second nature. i don't care; it's the only place to be, the bathrooom line kinda sucks...it doesn't matter.
- Pros: dancing, meeting, hangin'
- Cons: , small bathrooms
Big electronica grooves in a club that feels more like an underground party.
by Contributor
The Scene
With its clandestine location behind Mo's Neighborhood Grill, this relatively small, intimate lounge is a definite find. With retro furnishings, including an art deco couch and requisite disco ball and hanging artwork of the steel variety, the place has a hipster-meets-industrial feel and attracts a wide range of people from the city's hipster contingent: beautiful people, the electronica elite, the tattooed crowd and the scene-sampling college set.
The Draw
A night at the W can feel like an underground, invitation-only party. The club's cozy feel translates into a high-energy scene even with the slightest crowd. It's the place where those who create electronica sounds and deep beats come to hear others play. Variety is key--depending on the night, you may find yourself packing the dance floor to deep house or casually taking a seat to take in the downtempo grooves of acid jazz. If you appreciate great electronic music, a luscious atmosphere and fun people without the cavernous environs of Salt Lake's bigger clubs, you'll dig it.
