The full spa now open, Akasha is truly amazing! The salon is a great space. The back, though, is a totally different world. Through a big wooden door is a serene haven from the world outside. You can relax in the meditation room to the sound of their really cool fountain. I was able to use the steam room and sauna with my treatments, which was a nice bonus. My massage was the best I've ever had and the staff was very friendly and professional. I would recommend it to anyone.
Pros: Great location and ambience, plenty of parking

I got chewed out by my pedicure gal that my heels were too dry. She left the room in a huff. She was visibly upset with me. Normally, this wouldn't bother me BUT IT WAS THE DAY OF MY WEDDING. I left feeling agitated and angry - not relaxed and restored.

This place is unbelievable. You seriously will never believe what you walk in to. It was a mechanics garage or something before...and now it is the most amazing spa I have ever been in. The salon is hip and chic - and although I didnt have services there it definitely seems fun and trendy. Really, this is the nicest spa I can hardly believe it is in utah. When you walk through this huge wooden door into the spa it is like you enter a whole new reality. The locker room is so cool...there is a steam room and sauna - and the robes are soooo soft. The water wall and waiting room waterfall slowly drift you into total relaxation...the relaxation from that room was treat enough and then to top it off I got the best massage and pedicure that I have ever had. Not only do I recommend this place - if you dont try this spa you will never know what a truly 5 star spa experience can feel like. The place was beautiful, the treatments were phenominal, the staff was nice and accomodating, and it was reasonably priced. I loved it!!!!
Pros: great $ - unbelievable atmosphere and treatments - plenty of parking - great downtown location
Cons: none

this is the ABSOLUTELY WORST spa i have ever visited in my life. the staff was absolutely rude and unprofessional, and the place was disgusting. i specifically asked for a female massage therapist, and they gave me a male. he came inside from smoking his cigarette and took off his leather jacket and just started to give me my massage. secondly, i received a pedicure, and i was told to put my socks and shoes back on when the paint on my toenails were still wet. my pedicure was ruined and they did not offer to touch my nails up. after that, i got my hair colored blonde with black underneath. the stylist totally ignored me when doing my hair and talked to the other employees, and left my hair to sit for over an hour. she spotted my blonde hair with black splotches and then made me wait for another half hour. i finally got angry enough to tell her that i didn't want her to touch my hair anymore. lastly, when i got in my car and was about to leave, the receptionist chased me down and made me come back inside. she insisted that i didn't pay, and that they didn't have my credit card number saved, when i had paid for the services prior to my appointment. the manager accused me of not paying and took down all my information as if she were going to report me to the police. when i got home, i called them to give them my card number. after it was all sorted out and we had hung up, their receptionist called me to tell me how rude i was and threatened me to never make an appointment with them again.
Pros: NONE
Cons: rude and unprofessional employees, dirty building, stressful atmosphere, poorly designed website, awful customer service

I loved my stylist, I had been going to her for a while from another salon. However, I noticed that the management at Akasha treat their staff terribly, which made me uncomfortable and not very willing to return until my stylist moves salons. It was especially awkward when the management bawled out the front desk girl in front of me, calling her stupid etc. while I was standing right there. It's not the most welcoming of places but the stylists and spa staff are fantastic. So I'd recommend it if you're looking for just a good cut or wax etc. but not necessarily a good experience. Ha.

Avoid Akasha! My husband and I recently celebrated our anniversary. In celebration, I specifically arranged for a couple's massage at Akasha. However, when making the reservation, Akasha failed to mention that they have no facilities for a couple to have a massage in the same room: rooms large enough to accommodate two people getting a massage at the same time are still under construction, a process that the receptionist told us had been ongoing for quite some time. So we were split up and placed in seperate rooms. The management called it a "mix-up" but they never had the facilities to offer the couples massage in the first place. To make matters worse, the massage room is adjacent to the hair salon. I spent my massage time attempting to ignore the conversations between the hairdressers and their clients. I also endured the awful smell of hairdressing chemicals because one of the clients was getting a permanent. The management's feeble attempt to address my complaints was to offer a $20 discount on a future service. I will never return to Akasha. I highly recommend you take your business elsewhere.

The amount of money I paid for was not worth the services. I was recently in for a party with my brides maids and all of us agree it was not worth it. 3 out of 5 of the girls doing the services were inexperienced and unfriendly. Not to mention the inapropiate conversation in the room during our pedecures. I had my hair blown dry and the girl was cold and seemed completely not interested in the conversation I was attempting to generate. I would assume that they dont care how well thier staff does services since all of us agreed we were unsatisfied. Never going back, EVER
Pros: none
Cons: unpleasent, expensive, unprofesional

I am from Houston Texas and have been looking for a great place to get my hair done. I found it here. The staff was honest and did a great job and I love my hair cut and color. While the wait was >30 min it was worth it. It was relaxing and wonderful. Would reccomend this to anyone.
Pros: Friendly, Relaxing, Honest

The most traumatic event that occurred at Akasha was the Stylist spilling dark hair dye all down the leg of my jeans and all over my suede boots. The manager was less than apologetic about the event. She told me she would see what she could do after her stylist had ruined my clothes and boots. If that was not enough, the stylist cut off all my hair after I asked her to stop cutting! I asked her to take off four inches, which ending up being ten inches! When the abuse was over I expressed how displeased I was with the whole experience. The manager told me that all she would be able to do would be to take care of the hair service. She told me to call in a few days if I was still displeased; when I did she never returned any my phone calls!
Cons: Bad Service

I read the other reviews below before I went to Akasha for a "test run". I am looking for a spa for a massage and decided to try something less expensive first (a manicure) to get a feel for the place. I was left waiting for almost 20 minutes and the Spa Manicure which is listed as lasting 30 minutes ran 45 and made me late for a meeting. The nail tech was very friendly and tried to be accomodating, but didn't seem interested in getting the job done in a timely manner.
Pros: refreshments, quiet, warm
Cons: not on time
