Great food bad service.

by sqquuee

I have been on many occasions. I am always happy with the food and beer. But more often than not I get the same server and she is less than friendly and acts if its a burden too have to take our order, or get us more than 1 beer. I tend to sit at the bar now to avoid the poor service.

They have a great selection of rouge beer.

  • Pros: The food is great. HUGE selection of beer.
  • Cons: Service is often slow.

Never Again

by Sidny

The large beer menu drew us in, but most of the beer we wanted was "not available" or "sold out". We came in a group and when it was time to pay the waitress handed us all of our tickets plus one! Being told again and again that they were out of so many types of beer, combined with a waitress that couldn't count ruined the experience.

  • Cons: Service, Sold Out Beer

Great live music - awesome beer selection

by KKCSLC

The intimate setting and non-smoking environment make this one if the best places in the valley to listen to live music. Don't order an everyday (i.e. grocery store) beer. Be adventurous and sample something from their huge selection! There are pool tables for those who can't sit still for hours on end. Personally, I love the music and usually sit in the front to experience what feels like a personal concert. Enjoy!!

Really good food, really good Jazz Band too.

by leftybowler

I went about a week ago and saw a really good Jazz trio. We had drinks, and the artichoke dip is awesome. We aslo enjoyed the white Pizza. I ordered a Corona, they were out. I ordered a Pacifica, they were out. The waitress brought me another brand I can not remember what it was. But, told me if I did not like it they would get me something else. I really liked the place and the food.

  • Pros: Really good place to go and chill.
  • Cons: parking is an issue. but if you look around you can find a spot.

yummy food, great beer list, good service, irritating parking, out of Rogue 75% of the time

by blue_bird

The Bayou is one of my favorite haunts with great food and tons of beer. The service is generally cheerful and efficient. The servers can help you pick out a beer if you're overwhelmed by the double sided list. If I want to try something new, I ask them what they'd recommend. They also have a full bar and the bartenders are knowledgable. Their wine list is crummy, but why go to the Bayou and order wine? The garlic burger is great and comes with sweet potato fries, something I always order. The artichoke dip and hummus are yummy, too. Their wings are soggy and mild, the ceasar salad was more like an anchiovies salad, and the margerita pizza was lame but pretty much anything else is a winner!

The bar is packed during the weekends and I've waited 45 minutes for a table when I came after 10 but if you show up earlier, plan on 20 minutes or less. Parking is a pain, so carpool. There is a microscopic parking lot and street parking available.

  • Pros: delicious food and beer, no smoking, good hangout spot
  • Cons: parking, sometimes overwhelmingly loud (bad) jazz, expensive, wait time

Appauling Customer Service, Bring Your Social Security Card

by mrweezer

When entering the Bayou I was impressed with the bar in its entirity. The hardwood floors and the long bar would be enough to attract anyone. I was however not impressed with service. I undertand that fact that bars want to minimize underage drinking and that it is important to inspect your drivers license at the door. But I was checked a total of four times for my ID, by four different people and I only had one beer. I could maybe of let this pass me by at any other place if I had been mingling around, but I was sat at a stationary table. I suggest that if you are under 25 not to go to the bayou unless your craving some great beers and don't mind me hassled four times for your idea. I felt violated and I thought it was unprofessional of the bayou to check my ID more than twice. All in all it was a decent place I would have like to enjoy a couple more beers, but I thought I would have to bring my social security card with me.

A little chaotic

by gringo_stu

Unless terrible we always try new restaurants on multiple occasions to get an honest assessment of the place. The main impression we always take away from The Bayou is a chaotic one. This place is popular, make no mistake. Forget any idea of a quick bite to eat. The Bayou is a private club so you will need to buy a membership on your first visit. $5 for a temporary is hardly the end of the world and the extensive beer on offer more than makes up for it. Depending on when you visit you may need to wait a little before being seated. If your lucky you may get to perch up on the high stools of the bar and try a beer before being seated for dinner. With something like 200 bottled beers from around the world and 20+ on tap theres something for everyone here. Pilsners, lagers, stouts, ales, cider, the works. They also have a full bar with wine and liquor. I wonder if this ambitious approach has over extended them though. On more than one visit I reached my 4th or 5th selection before they confirmed the beer was in stock. The blame was put at the feet of their suppliers for the lack of my selections. It is sliightly disconcerting though to be presenteed with such a large array of selections only to be told 'no', 'no', 'no'. Surely a slightly smaller menu with a good availability of the selections would be better, The food is staple Southern/Southwestern featuring all the classics such as Jambalaya, catfish, crawfish etc. I have tried the jambalaya and chicken fried steak on recent visits. Neither were terribly bad but then neither were more than average. We once tried a daily appetizer special of fried okra, which was particularly pleasing. I wouldn't recommend the Bayou for the food alone. However if you like to sample a few beers, enjoy the loud party atmosphere and some live music later in the night then the Bayou might just be for you.

  • Pros: More beer than you can shake a stick at
  • Cons: Very noisy, poor parking, average food

Best place to kick back and enjoy a beer with friends or whoever

by nisbet

If you want to go out and don't want to deal with the "club" scene, this is a great place! It's an awesome enviroment with a live jazz band. They have pool tables as well. Definately a place for Beer People. They also have a full bar as well, so everyone can enjoy.

Customer Service?

by 2hotchicks

We are regulars at the Bayou and absolutely love Michelle. Whenever we come in, she remebers our favorite drinks and what we like to eat...great customer service. Food is good, beer is good and the bar has good mixed drinks. HOWEVER...my last visit to the Bayou was AWFUL! My waitress (Kim?) told me if I wanted a mixed drink I needed to tell the bartender. Are you kidding me? MY WAITRESS TOLD ME TO GO TO THE BARTENDER FOR SERVICE!! Ok besides one bad experience the place is great. Just ask for Michelle.

  • Pros: Michelle, Sweet Potato Fries
  • Cons: Service can lack
