I grew up in Ogden and can say that the fall colors are unbeatable! If you head up Ogden Canyon MAKE SURE you stop at RAINBOW GARDENS and shop and have lunch at THE GREENERY RESTURANT! I worked there when I was in college and the shopping and food are a great time! A must see with the fall colors and nice ending to a drive up the canyon.

My Favorite place to visit! one of the most beautiful places I have ever been too! Great food and views, especially Rooster's micro-brew in downtown Ogden...with Chef Jay Taylor...yum, yum! Great hiking and skiing! Can't say enough good things about the area!

Born and raised in Ogden. I remember my family would frequently look outside the back window and search the mountains for color. Once a year, we would pile in the station wagon (back seat facing rear) and drive up the canyon to collect leaves. Camping has minimal comforts, but, then again why else are you going camping? Recommend: stay in town and drive up.

Pros: scenery, friendly people, inexpensive

This place is my favorite place on earth. I have traveled all over North and South America and the northern Wasatch Mountains will always be heaven on earth to me.

I grew up near Ogden Canyon, and even though I've experienced it many times, I've never gotten tired of it. Monte Cristo is a little out of the way, but I know many locals who seem addicted to the place. It's a great place to see animals (moose, elk, deer) and is also quite rugged, despite a relatively close proximity to an urban area. If you're in the area, check it out.

Pros: Scenic and beautiful, Lots of wildlife, Great in any season

Cons: , Crowds, Poor facilities

Monte Cristo is probably one of the most beautiful spot in the state. It is very reclusive location where all these civilization is so far away, where you can find your peace out there. There were trees everywhere and you'd better watch the road because the road are rather crooked but at the same time you would be tempted to enjoy the scenery around you. Be careful out there.
