Good but not great

by cgratteau

The drive up Little Cottonwood is fun and adds almost an activity to the evening in and of itself. We spent an entire evening here. I had heard that it was a good idea to make reservations. It was not neccassary. It was 8:00 on a Friday night. Maybe July is not its peak season. The staff was freindly and seemed knowledgable. The food was good if maybe a little too much spice, sweetness etc (it could have been dumbed down a smidge). They need to hire an interior decorator quick. If I am spending that kind of money than I expect an all around experience. The South western print on some of the furniture did not go with the cheap asian theme that they were trying for. Lets not forget this is a lodge. Over all I enjoyed the evening but I know of better at the same cost.

  • Pros: Nice drive
  • Cons: Food is average

eating the view?

by thelma5970

The view here is spectacular - no other restaurant in Utah commands this mountain vista - sooooo - are you there for the food or the view? The sunday brunch buffet is ordinary at best - too much emphasis on sushi and "waffles" - with so-so desserts. There are much better places to spend your money if the quality of the food is your primary concern.

  • Pros: view
  • Cons: , ordinary food

The flagship of Snowbird's fleet of restaurants, perched atop the Cliff Lodge. A lofty dining experience.

The Scene

At Snowbird's central Cliff Lodge, exit the elevator at Level 10 into the expansive, elegant realm of the Aerie. From the high-backed booths and tables for two that run along the picture window, you can digest the panoramic views of the mountain. Asian tapestries, silks, and artifacts add to the ethereal ambiance, while the resort crowd adds a convivial buzz from the lounge.

The Food

While it may be termed New American Cuisine, let's just call it ambitious and delicious. Fiddlehead ferns add zest to an appetizer of warm asparagus and morels; shallots and wild mushrooms balance the rich porcini ravioli in a brown butter sauce, while a red-pepper aioli brightens the rich flavors of a jumbo shrimp and crab salad. Bright colors and artful presentation add to the pleasures of the entrees and specials, including a recent pesto cream sauce for a half-rack of lamb, a citrus cr?me sauce for the veal chop, and a Grand Marnier peppercorn sauce for the Black Angus strip steak.

Stunning view

by peter_behle

This restaurant had excellent food, and you'll pay for it. But the best thing about this mountainn-lodge restaurant is the stunning view of the mountain. Great for a romantic meal.
