A fully professional theater in residence at the University of Utah, Simmons Pioneer Theatre Company produces a seven-play season running from September through May. The season includes a mixture of classics, large-scale epics and adaptations, and contemporary dramas and comedies.

The Experience
Traditionally, the theater opens and closes with big, Broadway-style musicals that have included everything from "Little Shop of Horrors" to "Man of La Mancha." Although the theater focuses on mainstream theatrical fare, it has found itself embroiled in controversy in previous seasons over everything from strong language to onstage smoking. The best and most expensive seats in the 1,000-seat house are in the orchestra and loge. The rear balcony seats are more affordable, but a long way from the action.…
