What happened to the sound?!?
2 Star Rating: Below Average

For years this has been my favorite theater in Salt Lake - great seating, real butter on the popcorn, easy parking, and friendly employees - the perfect theater! Then, Carmike bought it and it's begun a steady decline. The popcorn is hit-or-miss, the employees are consistently rude, and the cleanliness is slipping. But the real problem is the sound! During each of the 6 or so movies I've gone to here in the past 6 months the story has been the same . . . the movie starts, and then the whispering in the crowd starts . . . "why is it so quiet?" "turn it up!" "can you hear that?" Invariably someone gets up to complain, but nothing changes. You can hear every popcorn bag crinkling, every soda sipping, every foot tapping, and every nose sniffling within a 100 yards. What you can't hear is the dam* movie!! I don't know anything about the technical aspects of theater sounds, but there's no doubt about it . . . this place "ain't what it used to be," and someone is reducing costs by reducing the quality of sounds. I've been told it has to do with the quality of projectors they're using, or that they don't subscribe to DTS sound or something . . . who knows. Bottom line, I just can't go here any more because it's just too maddening. Which only leaves me with going to Larry Millers places, which are pits in their own right . . . bring us Lowes theaters!

Pros: Good parking, good food

Cons: Absolutely horrible sound quality now - what happened?
