What users are saying:
Easily accessible from the city, yet so far away from the bustle.

In Short
By a few hundred yards, Solitude qualifies as the closest ski area to downtown Salt Lake City and the airport--fewer than 45 minutes, if the roads are dry. The resort shares deep, dry powder with its neighbors over the ridge at Alta and Snowbird, but cultivates a more relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. It receives an average snowfall of 450 inches. With half of Solitude's runs being appropriate for intermediate-level skiers, it's a great place to learn.
Vital Stats
Vertical drop: 2,047 feet
Top elevation: 10,035 feet
Acreage: 1,200 acres
Runs: 64
Annual snowfall: more than 500 inches
Gondola needed

Even the addition of the honeycomb canyon chair hasnt helped the resort's skier traffic flow. Put a gondola from the lower parking lot which ends at the top of the resort please. A short term, low cost idea would be to sell tickets at the base of the quad chair.
- Pros: good snow, small crowds
- Cons: bad lift system
Not a 7 even

I've skied on Solitudes slopes on several different occasions year to year and the snow and slopes are not what I would call a great experience. There are simply too many flat areas and the snow is poor comparitively to other Utah resorts.
