Pre-packaged or frozen...may as well stay home

by apolloone at Citysearch

This chain has degraded from once "homemade" food to cheap packaged gravies and frozen, cheap food that you may as well make at home. The steaks are still good (but getting smaller it seems). I guess you get what you pay for.

Service is decent, but nothing special. They need to learn how to carry plates and glasses without sticking their fingers in the "food" area.

it's so so

by wabenaki at Citysearch

there are several locations in the valley. the service is all about the same at each of them - average. i think a prerequisite of being a server is having a 'doo whackadoo' hair style. when ordering the steak and eggs breakfast the steak is always cooked to death. order it rare and you have a ghost of a chance it being edible. they don't have low-cholestrol eggs products. interesting clientele to say the least. i had the fish and chips here once and it was actually pretty good. the fish part was cooked from frozen but that was to be expected and is actually preferred in most restaurants in utah.

We like Jim's pancakes a lot better than...

by byuman1978 at Citysearch

The best review that I can give comes from the words of my kids..."We like Jim's pancakes a lot better than [insert the name of a large international pancake maker]! The service is great, and always prompt. Food is good and there's always plenty of it.

Pancakes as big as soccer balls but bland!

by rewhuk at Citysearch

We went to Jim's family restaurant on December 4 2005. I had the pancakes and my parents had the breakfast specials. The food was not expensive and there was a lot of it but it was very bland. The food had no taste. It was like food you would get in a rest home where there is very little salt or other things in the food which may be harmful to the senior citizens. If you want a lot of food with no taste at a great price jim's is for you. BLAND! BLAND! BLAND! YUK!

  • Pros: cheap eats, lots of food, clean floor
  • Cons: no taste, bland, yuk!

No thanks!

by averagejane at Citysearch

A big no thank you to Jim's. Yes, Jim's is a franchise and yes, the food is cheap in every sense of the word. I don't like being served by wizened bar fly types who lean on the table and tell you their life's story in all the gory detail nor do I like to eat the cheapest food imaginable.

We won't be back.

Good (and cheap) coffee-shop grub, with some Greek specialties thrown in.

by Peter Behle at Citysearch

The Scene
Your typical Denny's-style coffee shop. Ask to sit out front by the window--the back room is a little claustrophobic. On weekend mornings, most of the patrons look like they just straggled out of bed: it's that casual.

The Food
Don't think you're going to get fancy here--this is good, honest food at terrific prices. Breakfast is the star and it's served all the time. The Greek Omelete (ham, onion, tomatoes, cheddar and feta) and Jim's Breakfast (cheese-covered home fries, two meats--sausage, bacon or ham--three eggs and toast or pancakes) are guilty-pleasure gut-busters. Lunch and dinner aren't for the calorie-conscious, either. All the big entrees come with soup and salad, along with either potatoes or spaghetti. Go for something Greek (either pork or chicken souvlaki) or the diner stand-by--country-fried steak.

Good food and it's not a franchise!

by shauen at Citysearch

I've been going to Jim's at lunchtime for years. The food is reasonaby priced. Service is prompt...the food is consistently good....and the wait staff is always friendly...even the cashiers! Ask for Rula....she's our favorite server!
