Fresh Mexican consistantly good
by jsquared365
I love Barbaco. The food is always fresh and the flavors blend so well. I eat here ever time I am in town. Great for lunch and dinner. Not fancy just good and healthy.
- Pros: fresh and healthy
- Cons: language can be a small issue
Small servings and overpriced
by ceted
The food is still pretty good, but it has become WAY overpriced and the serving sizes keep getting smaller and smaller. They're half what they were originally. I don't feel the need to personally finance their further expansion. There are plenty of other places out there that offer good, reasonably priced fare.
- Pros: Tastey
- Cons: Tiny servings and WAY overpriced!
LO MAS AUTENTICO

Clean, kid friendly, large portions, reasonable price, no lines, nice buildings, discounts to HRO, highly recommended
- Pros: Delicious, No 34 Act, No IRC
- Cons: No diet pepsi
Favorite in Salt Lake!

This is my favorite place for lunch. I recommend the burrito bowl. The only complaint is that over the last couple of years, portions have decreased and prices have increased. Still worth it.
- Pros: fresh, friendly service, great taste
Custom burritos at a great price.

The Scene
Barbacoa is a clean, casual place with a busy open kitchen right behind the burrito assembly line. There is plenty of seating, and the feel is like an upscale fast-food joint.
The Food
Custom-built burritos and tacos bulging with fresh ingredients. Start with cilantro-lime rice, select black or pinto beans and add to them chicken, steak, barbacoa (slow-cooked shredded beef) or carnitas ($4.95). Other ingredients include grilled peppers, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and sour cream. Or get everything in a bowl with the tortilla on the side and you've got a burrito bowl ($4.95/tortilla is 65 cents extra)--a little easier to eat than the fat wraps.
Top it all off with one of the flavorful salsas. The red-chile tomatillo sauce is hot and spicy. Roasted chile-corn salsa has medium heat and chopped tomatoes and red onion make up the mild salsa.

Love Babacoa! The food is great service is way fast, the staff is always polite and and conscientious.
One night I was the only one there, but didn't know what I was getting so I was standing reading the menu. The line mgr said to the staff, "Have you helped this customer?"
