After having my Cadillac at a few other shops MasterTech was recommended by one shop as being able to find the problem with my car. The owner worked for Cadillac years ago and knew my car inside and out , he was able to come to a fairly close diagnosis of what was wrong just by all of the descriptions I gave him. He would not commit to that being the problem without a few tests being run on the vehicle , he called me back a couple of hours later to tell me what the problem was actually and what the cost would be to repair it. I asked a couple of times if he was sure this was the problem since I had already taken it in other places and they just guessed , he offered to have me watch the data on their tool they plug in the car and run tests from and I agreed to come down and look since this problem had been so aggravating with the air conditioner . I watched him try and move the motors for the air conditioner with the tool and they would not move to the proper place on the dash and had me hold my hand on the motor while he did something to make it move and you could feel a clicking noise in the motor. He told me this is a broken gear inside that motor and is stopping the motor from moving a door to the position to get air out of the front vents instead of out of the defrost . I told him to replace the motor and picked the car up that night and it works great , the price was almost $10 less then the quote they gave me , They also looked over the car and gave me a list of recommends of what is needed at the miles I have on the vehicle according to the factory maintenance schedule. Very Very great service and it is nice to be able to go to a family owned and operated business and support them
Pros: good location - shuttled me to work -- Knew their stuff
Cons: wish they had a pop machine

MasterTech Automotive is THE place to take your car. They gave me a quote to repair my radiator and when I picked up my car, the bill was $100 LESS than the quote. The service advisor and mechanic were very professional and couldn't be any nicer! One thing is I hadn't heard anything about my car by early afternoon, so I had to call them. The service advisor sounded very harried and frazzled, but was still supernice and polite. They were SO busy, I imagine it's not prudent for her to constantly call customers all day and tell them no news yet! I would use MasterTech again!

Took my car here because it was AAA approved. The fix was triple the original estimate of $750. They promised the car in 3 days, but it took over 2 weeks, They never had a reason and often didn't answer the phone when I called. They said they would call me to let me know how things were going, but that never happened either. If it's not too late, take your car anywhere but here. They are terrible.
Pros: They didn't ask for my firstborn child
Cons: speed and quality of service, price

I went in for a simple rear brake job at the end of June 2007. Initially they quoted $500, but it was over $1400 after they replaced nearly the entire rear end (axle, brakes and rotors). When I picked up the car, only a block away from the shop I nearly rear-ended the car in front of me when the ABS system engaged at around 10mph at a stop! It was a very scary feeling, since it was very unexpected and felt just like I didn't have any brakes at all. The brakes also felt spongy and the pedal almost went to the floor. They claimed that the sponginess was `normal,' but agreed to look at the ABS problem. They cleaned some grease off of one of the rear ABS sensors, and claimed that they couldn't reproduce the problem. Leaving the shop the ABS system went off again WITHIN A BLOCK! When I took the car back they wanted me to drive the car in this condition`for a while' to gather more information in the computer. After 3 more close calls I gave up and took the car back. Once again, they couldn't figure anything out, but did say that they would keep trying to fix the problem. Their only plan was disable ABS on my car and post the problem to a mechanics internet forum and hope for someone else to tell them how to fix it. Over the next months, they never called me, I always had to call them. By November I took it in and after another week they still couldn't find anything. They did say that if nothing came up the only thing that they could do was just replace the whole ABS system, but that they'd need to find a used one from a junkyard. After calling them again this last week and demanding they finally fix my car, I got a call back telling me that it would be $300 for the parts! They're now claiming that they didn't touch the ABS system, even though they had to take out and reinstall the rear sensors, and they replaced the rear ABS tone rings when they replaced the axle. Bad customer service and bad work!
Pros: Good location.
Cons: Short hours and terrible service.

I'm from CA here at school.I have AAA & saw mastertech is AAA approved so i thought it should be a good place to go.Was i wrong. At this time a male was working there with Autum as receptionist.I told them all i want is my brakes checked then tell me how much it will cost.He told me the amount&i told him i had AAA discount&to do the work.I had my master cylinder&brake booster changed out and new parts put in.30 minutes went by&he said i needed to pay him $100.00 i said what?he said for checking the car.I said you never told me about a fee for checking my car.he said since i wasn't getting my car worked on.i said i told you 30 minutes ago to start.autum came over&said no to the $100.I waited from 8am til 5:30pm for my car. They wouldnt take me home or offer to bring me back after it was finished either. As i sat there I saw them arguing all day.i found out the mechanic working on my car(he is very young)&the receptionist autum are family. All day in front of everyone they would hit&yell about everything.even their dad would give him a hard time about hurring up on the car&he'd try to explain it isn't an easy job.Well i ended up paying-she forgot my discout which i reminded her of-&immediatly after pulling out knew there was somthing wrong with my brakes.I ended up coming back a totally of 3 times.i was fed up&said for the mechanic to drive in the car with me&tell me there is nothing wrong(my husband knows alot about cars&i have been driving around enough to know when there is a problem with the brakes). It was so bad i was using my emergency brake to stop. Finally the mechanic looked&found out it both were defective parts.Another thing that bothered me on my reciept was it said needs alignment.shouldnt they have done that when they took that all apart,it was perfect before i went there, then it became all the way off to the right. The service&mechanics are bad.Don't seem too knowledgeable, can't answer simple questions, don't listen well, bad work ethics-don't check their work
Pros: Shop is big and located on state street
Cons: Employees need training, very unorganized, have to stay on top to make sure they don't do something with out your approval, AAA approval is misleading
