$110 DOWN THE DRAIN...

by CSConsumer

My wife and I received services at CAMEO and were extremely disappointed. I went with an understanding that it IS a school, and the prices are lower, therefore the professionalism or services received would likely be less quality. However, we left not only feeling unclean, but also as if we had been robbed of our $110. I received a facial, which was no more than a light patting of oils and creams onto my face- no massage techniques, no working the muscles or anything. Included with the "facial" was a hand and foot massage, which again, was no more than a gentle rubbing of lotion onto my foot- again, no massage. I had even put "firm" onto the form I filled out for the type of massage I would like. Also, the bed linens were extremely dirty, and a little damp from the previous customer. It was gross. My wife received a full body spa service, and she said the tub was very dirty, and the student just cleaned it by spraying some water on it- no actual cleaning. Also, her service was misleading-no more than a light spreading of lotion over her body. The student did not perform any kind of massage technique. I know they're students, but nothing was done that we could not have done ourselves easily at home for under $5 and without education. In addition, my 1 hour 45 minute facial, and her 2 hour body spa service both only lasted 1 hour 15 minutes. This is something they can control, students or not. The website was quite misleading. Both students were very nice however, and so at the end it was quite awkward when they bring you to the front desk to pay and then ask you to rate the service performed with them standing right there. The student who performed services for my wife didn't even ask, we saw her just give herself a 4 out of 5 automatically. After we left, my wife noticed my facial skin was quite dry and red. I assume there are some top notch students studying there, but in our side by side experience in different areas of the building with different students, we both noticed the same dirty environment and poor techniques.

  • Pros: POTENTIAL to be a nice place..
  • Cons: Dirty, Service Time, Poor Techique

Lehi Day Spa and Salon

by August2008

The owner, Kelly Whitworth, refuses to pay me for training because I opted to not work there. We live in a right to work state, which means either party can terminate employment at any reason at any time. Nothing was stated beforehand about non-payment if training wasn't completed. I emailed her asking about payment, and she flat out refused to pay me, because I didn't chose to work there.

Cameo Student

by cameostudent

In regards to Cameo College of Essential Beauty... It is a nice facility that offers many opportunites for motivated students.... however we are worked worked worked. I was excited to go to Cameo because of the reputation it holds, and the Esthetics courses offered versus other colleges in UT. Being a Cameo student I have realized that it does offer advanced classes and treatments; just being able to learn those correctly is the hard part. There is not enough time to learn, this is a school and I think many agree, it is worked more like a business. We are there to take appointments, yes this can be a good thing, but not 4 out of the 5 days we are there. We get plenty of practice with your basics (facials, pedicures, manicures) but taking a course offered as MASTER ESTHETICS I feel as though more advanced treatments (peels, micros, dermasound, etc) should be a larger focus. To get us ready for the real world we need EDUCATION too; sure we may have resources more readily available, however, I can buy the books we use online and teach myself just as much as I am learning there. But being comfortable with clients is important too, maybe just to a lesser extent... more balance between education and appointments would be good!! If you are looking for a college to attend, make sure they offer good education along with being able to take appointments!! Organization is helpful as well!!

Best Education In The State

by slc103

Oh I have to comment on the post left by Dream2Dream. Hey Valerie your underwear were in a bunch when you wrote this post did someone cut you off on the freeway today. So did you wake up every morning and chose to be bitter about Cameo and the rules or did you act like an adult. Oh by the way I to am a former Cameo student and I would have to say with all my experience with other professionals in this industry I would say that I have learned way more than most. The current Cameo esthetics instructors know more then you every will about esthetics and you and I both know that you never taught any chemistry class. So maybe you should take your own advice that you made after a former Sanctuary employee slammed on you and think about maybe school was bad because you made it that way. Because you said it yourself life is what you make it right? Oh and so everyone knows that if you want to graduate on time you have to actually go to school and not make it hard on yourself like Valerie did. Oh and Valerie don?t you think that because of your education and the information you took from Cameo got you to the position you have today being the Manager of Sanctuary. Think about it!! So everyone if you are thinking about visiting Cameo for a service or becoming a student don?t take Valerie?s advice and go there and make your own opinion. Because she is one of the hundreds of students that graduate from Cameo each year and her opinion doesn?t matter, because she wants to act like a high school student and hold a grudge.

Best Facial Ever! Kudos to Cameo College of Essential Beauty...

by Ervalewis

I am a retired Cosmetology Instructor from the state of Arizona. I was visiting a friend in Salt Lake City, Utah for the 4th of July. She had scheduled us an appointment for an European facials at Cameo College. I have never worked at or experienced such professionalism and cleanliness in my life. The college is absolutely gorgeous and spotlessly clean. It is nicer than most professional spa's. The entire experience was top notch from the receptionist who greeted us promptly and professionally to the Esthetics students who did the service and the cashier that rang up the sale. The education is superior at Cameo, it was the best 1 1/2 hours I have spent being pampered in my life. They used Dermalogica and Glymed products and my skin just glowed when I left. I was so relaxed I did not want to get off the heated treatment table when the service ended. Kudos to Cameo educators, students, staff and owner.

This school ROCKS!

by ohwhatever

Dream2Dream obviously dreamed too much during school or was too busy getting excited over busting atoms with their own genitals--WHAT A WACKO! This school is fantastic and the instructors are top notch! I believe this individual to have personal issues that will carry on with them the rest of their lives. Cameo has come a long way over the last few years and provide the best prices and an array of services--GO CAMEO! I love that place.

  • Pros: The facility, instructors, students, and price.
  • Cons: Dream2Dream

Great Education!

by arealsweetiepie

I am a graduate of Cameo College and have traveled to several conventions and trainings and know for a fact that Cameo offers an amazing education!!! Students across the country are NOT getting the education or client experience that we get at Cameo....they are a leader in education and strive to offer the newest and best. You definatley have to work hard and take responsibility for your own education to get the most out of it.....but what a great opportunity to be a graduate of one of the top schools in the country!

  • Pros: Newest programs
  • Cons: You are super busy with clients, so if you are lazy this could be a con

Education too expensive, No follow through by uneducated instructors, Money hungry ownership

by Dream2dream

I am a graduated student of Cameo College of Essential Beauty. When I saw this opportunity to comment about my experiences I was so EXCITED!!!! I know you hold your business in high regards and take things personal when attacked with constructive critisizm, so, hold on! I want everyone to know that going to school at Cameo was my BIGGEST mistake EVER made! My expectations were never fullfilled in any degree the ENTIRE time I went to school. I also need to express my frustration towards the instructors there. Come on Brenda, they were so uneducated that I ended up teaching the Chemistry portion to the class instead of listening to your instructor try to relate the atom to a male and female genital body part. I also want to tell everyone that I NEVER saw organization in there teachings or trainings. I would literally go to school and hear lecturing on how we are not taking enough appointments during the day and how we need to follow protocols that were NEVER taught to us in the beginning and then after about 45 minutes of lecturing I would be pulled down to the "Day Spa" to take appointments (Pedicures, facial, body treatments and more) until the last hour of the day and then be required to clean up and leave. (No lunches)I rarely on occation would have a theory hour that was actually some what well taught or I should correctly say well read out of a book. Other times I was FORCED to take appointments or get harsh punishment which consist of demerits of my points towards graduation. The Cameo college is able to charge their students for any MINUTE of overage past their expected graduation date. VERY VERY rarely will you EVER have a student from cameo graduate on their expected date. The day spa is disgusting and messy. They would also never have enough clean towels for the treatments which would result to the students to buy their own. In our contract they were suppose to furnish these things... Oh boy I have so much more to say, but I am running out of characters..

  • Pros: not a chance!
  • Cons: instructors, management, teachings(lack of) enciroment, no lunch breaks, filthy enviroment

Deceptive advertising and poor service

by ubugs07

The advertisement for the treatment I chose proudly reads ?75-Minute European Facial?. I was really excited going into the treatment and I had very high expectations. I used to live in Indianapolis a year ago and I regularly visited a beauty college for my beauty needs. And so, subconciously, I was imagining the same experience.

The student who worked on me was rather nice and she did take good care of me. But the facial itself lastest about 30 minutes (versus the 75 minutes your website promises). Before we?d really gotten off to a start she happily chirped, ?We?re done!?

I had had a good converasion with her and so I didn?t know how to express myself and say that I was disappointed with the experience. I feel a little deceived and voiceless. I don?t think I got my $$$ worth. I was in disbelief when I saw the time. But I didn?t know how I could dispute it with the student. I think your website is very misleading. It sets the standard very high with the pictures and descriptions but the actual procedure fell grossly short of my expectations.

Also, the questionnaire/disclaimer I was asked to fill out specifically asked if I liked a firm or a gentle massage and I ticked ?firm?. But the student was very gentle and gentle slowly became ineffective. I don?t think I was paired with an apprciate specialist who could help fulfill my needs.

I would not reccommend this place to anyone! I have visited Cameo's competitor - Skinworks, and they do an accurate job of matching the description and the actual service. I was thoroughly misled and I would never want anyone else to be in my predicament.

  • Pros: Prices, ambience
  • Cons: poor service, deceptive advertising
