Amazing Art Gallery
by artist23
Last week while visiting Salt Lake City I stopped into Philips Gallery and was surprised to see the amount of amazing art. The gallery has three floors and beautiful sculpture deck. It is a must see if you are the Salt Lake area.
- Pros: Available free parking in front.

Gallery Vibe
Phillips was established in 1965 and is the oldest commercial gallery in the Intermountain West. As a privately-owned gallery, it exists in a symbiotic relationship with the artists--about 95% of which are local. Phillips represents 80+ artists who use a variety of media, from painting and sculpture to ceramics and jewelry.
Education
Phillips is not as involved with the local schools as some of the non-profit institutions, but is regularly represented at local art talks and presentations. However, the occasional gaggle of elementary school kids will be seen roaming the halls.
Exhibits
Phillips rotates its stable of artists on the main-floor gallery, and houses collections from the others in the basement and second-floor galleries. The media is widely varied, but is all contemporary.
