Best Kept Secret for Antiques on the West Coast:
by marsidotes
It is always a delight to go in Anthony's. It not only has amazing furniture and art but unique objects as well. I have found the staff to be both knowledgeable and willing to explain details about anything and everything. I have never felt the "stuffiness" that was mentioned in a previous review--nor have I ever felt pressured to buy anything.
Perhaps some shoppers want to be warmly greeted and engaged in bubbly conversation. Anthony is a very pleasant person who as a vast knowledge of the objects in the store but he is not an outgoing, loquacious individual. I personally prefer his style, where I can browse at my leisure but ask for help or direction whenever I want or need it.
I enjoy visiting the store--in much the way I love to go to a favorite museum, walking from room to room and floor to floor. It is even more of a delight since objects are available for purchase as well as mere enjoyment.
- Pros: Quality and value / Convenient Parking
Knowledgeable Service

I purchased several antiques from Tony when he just had a small shop on Broadway...I was young and learning but he was patient and respectful. I have lived and shopped in San Francisco, Los Angeles and New Orleans. Tony stands shoulder to shoulder with the best buyers in all those cities! What a wonderful thing to have him living here in SLC and I am glad I am back to take advantage of his great eye and expertise!
- Pros: Ambience, knowledgeable, trustworthy
- Cons: Busy with large clientele but worth the wait!
Wow!

World class selection. I've shopped the world for 30 years. Their collection is eclectic, interesting with several important pieces. I found them to be very knowledgable and helpful. I highly recommend them.
Only drawback . . . I can't find a website for them? Help.
- Pros: Selection, quality, professionalism
Unbelievable beauty! Makes my eyes hurt and yet I never can get enough!

Anthonies has the most beautiful home furnishings you have ever seen. And those who tell you different ethier have bad taste or just sour grapes. About sixteen years ago I discovered Antonies on a fluke and what a lucky day. I have been there when the sales people have been charming and when it was less than a delight. However I did not go there looking for a lunch date just outrageously georgeous furniture, you will not be disappointed if one of a kind beauty makes your heart sing! Anthonies is an education in and of it's self. It is one of the treasures of Salt Lake and somthing to be savored.
- Pros: I have never seen anything to match it ever! This is what I mean when I say antique.
- Cons: Sometimes sales folks could work on their polite, they can be stuffy.
Not worth the trip,, even if its arround the corner

Less then impressive,, much less. Lacking Professionalism, Might as well be selling star wars. Not worth your trip.
- Pros: occupies a building discouraging homeless
- Cons: everything
oversized antiques for twee retirees lacking self knowledge
by wunderbugg
snobs -- apparently if you are too short (?) they judge you as too young, hence not wealthy enough to buy their provincial antiques -- they specialize in name dropping only i would think -- in my younger days i visited because i liked the sculptures outside -- they were cold, snippy, rude, and unnecessarily judgmental. i left feeling belittled and confirming my opinion that true chic is not in the large and pompous, but in that which has recently been rejected and its real value is being rediscovered. only copy cats go in for this bland experience -- i'm glad i left empty handed -- where they seem left with empty souls....
- Pros: some of the things are pretty and probably valuable
- Cons: you have to wade thru knee-deep pretension
For those who want the best

Having shopped all over the world for antiques, I was amazed to find a world class gallery with such an amazingly large quantity of quality antiques in all price ranges right here in Salt Lake City. Anthony and his staff are knowledgable, helpful, courteous, and I have not found better value any where else I have shopped. Those who know antiques know what a great find Anthony's is. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for those quality items with enduring value.
- Pros: quality, value, selection
You won't find any "Star Wars" memorabilia here. This is what an antique store was meant to be.

The Scene
Anyone who lives in a basement apartment should probably look elsewhere for household furnishings. Perhaps a garage sale. The large-scale pieces at Anthony's Antiques belong in a palatial country estate. And so do the customers who can afford to purchase anything from this store. Think we're exaggerating? If you think nothing of paying $97,000 for a 19th-century Renaissance-style dining room set, then we want to come live at your country estate. Forever.
The Goods
You'll find lots of 18th-century French armoires here, along with gorgeous statues, fountains, fireplace mantels, armor, chandeliers, clocks, tapestries, tables, chairs and bedroom furniture. The artwork is especially fabulous. It's the real deal--not the poorly executed landscapes seen in typical antique stores.
