lots and lots of great vintage finds, although i see these guys scoring the local thirft stores and jacking up the prices, good for them. The location is great, pretty easy to park. Some good finds but the clothing items I have found, have never been in very good condition but hey its " vintage" not good vintage quality I guess. Got a dress there for a holiday party, paid twenty bucks, looked great in the fitting room, then zipper just crumbed when I got it home , right before the party... bummer. I have been going in here for years but seldom do these days just because of the horrible vibes that places radiates. mainly from the owner, who is un friendly and uber snobbish. For gods sake my man have a little integrity and be nice to your patrons. He really is so cold......Not nice at all......Won't go back for that one reason. Did i mention i also feel like a fugitve going in there? I have been watched like a hawk, what a terrible shopping experince. And I tell all my friends that too, seems to be a pattern. Sorry.
Pros: great vintage finds
Cons: Rude Owner, Bad Vibes

I shopped nearly every vintage, thrift, and antique shop in SLC, before hitting this one. And while shopping those other stores, their owners did their best to dissuade me from going to Decades, stating that they, (Decades), were rude and gave horrible service. Being the curious shopper that I am, I ventured over there to see for myself what all the hubbub was about. Boy, were THEY wrong! When I walked in the door, I was kindly greeted by the employee. And was allowed to shop without any interruptions. I was astounded by the enormous selection of vintage clothing.....at great prices!!!! There were bargains galore. I was very careful not to attempt to ask to try on any of the clothing labeled, "ANTIQUE," since they request the customers not to, on many signs throughout the store. Rightly so, because those items were very delicate and very, very old. One rip and the dress is toast. Many people don't understand that. Great experience! I loved it more than Cats! I will go again and again!
Pros: Best seslection in SLC!
Cons: Not enough hours in the day to fully shop it!

I have been shopping at Decades for five years now - I live in Logan and its my first stop anytime I am in SLC. The shop is amazing with an incredible selection and very knowledgeable owner (and the best shop cat in the world!). The whole look and feel of the store is fun! - from the funky glitter-block floor to the classic vocals on the stereo, you would think that you were in a much more metropolitan city. The prices are extremely good - I've yet to escape without multiple purchases. The owner is always friendly and helpful and he really knows his stuff! The shop features everything from antique Victorian through some of the best (of the worst) 80's dresses I've seen since my own prom... If you are looking for clothes, jewelry, hats, shoes, purses - or any other article of clothing - I highly recommend Decades!!!
Pros: Everything! The merchandise, the owner and the cat!
Cons: Parking

With 2 weeks till my Prom I decided to visit every consignment store in SLC. When I reached this place I was amazed and in awe over all the clothing and jewelery. I understood the policy of leaving my bag, but the guy there at the time was extremely rude. In short, I now am going to buy my vintage clothing online, rather than have to deal with that loser. No beautiful 20' dress is worth it.
Pros: Amazing, large collection
Cons: Rude Service

Being a costume designer, I have shopped at Decades for several years, but yesterday was the last time. The owner of the shop has the best selection and prices in town, but it is not worth putting up with his attitude. I have spent many hundreds of dollars there for show costumes, but each time I come in for something for myself or with a cast member, I am treated like a potential suspect, or worse, an idiot whom he assumes will ruin his clothing. I live an hour away, and yesterday made the trip with a budget to purchase 9 costumes for two characters, with more purchasing trips planned for upcoming weeks before the show. After choosing about 10 articles for try-on (which were not vintage, but 80's-90's cocktail dresses which could be remade into flapper costumes), he told us that we could only try on one or two. I understand that true vintage items are too fragile to be tried on. I understand that he has a lot of teenagers that come in there just for fun and don't take good care. But I am a grown woman with an education in costuming, and a repeat customer with money to spend. Yet each time I come in for a specific purchase, I am thwarted at every turn. Many of the purchases I have actually made there have been when the owner was out. Once I fell in love with a red velvet 60s dress on a mannequin. When I asked to try it on, he told me it was "already sold." Two months later I came back and it was still there. The employee on duty let me try it on and I bought it on the spot and have used it in three productions since. Several times the owner has refused to let me or my daughter (who is a costume design college major) try anything on. Interestingly, when I have been there with my husband, I have been allowed try-ons, but not with my daughter. What's up with that? We are petite women who understand how to care for clothing and have serious money to spend. I just don't get it! I told him (nicely) how I felt and that I wouldn't come back. Very sad.
Pros: good selection
Cons: terrible service

I loved Decades! I could've spent hours if I had more time. They have awesome vintage clothes and accessories! I bought a cute vintage ring for only $17! They have a lot of clothes from the 40's and 50's that are in really good condition. If you love vintage, you'll love decades!
Pros: costomer service , Prices, selection
Cons: parking

For anyone who moved from a big city (I'm from Toronto, and feel at home in NY and Chicago) to SLC, you may miss the vintage shops - I know I did until I found Decades. While you need to remember that a size 8 was a "large" back in the day, so the dresses may not work for you with their itty-bitty waists, even the full-figured woman can find coats, hats, shoes, purses, and other accessories that are sure to be unique. They always have a wide selection of both men's and ladies' clothing and accessories, ranging in price from surprisingly reasonable (I found a never-worn pair of funky boots for $20) to outrageously pricy (for the true antique articles).
Pros: price, location, selection
Cons: parking

Me and Phill went wandring around in all the shops downtown, in search of something interesting to do. We ended up in Decades which I could probably say is now the coolest place I have ever been. We messed around for an hour or so, and then I made a joke asking what he thought about me buying my prom dress there. We laughed, and then I saw it! It was my dress!! It looked like a princess. It was white with sequins and pearls, and it poofed out, so when you'd spin around it a circle it would fluff out. It was amazing. I bought the dress, and loved it.Oh, by the way, my princess dress was only 35 dollars.
Pros: had SO many hats!, huge collect. shoes!, chunky rings
