Where's my waiter?
by sydneyrhees
I just had a really frustrating experience at O'Shucks Bar. The place was practically empty and still the waiter managed to avoid our table for the bulk of the evening. He forgot about several of the people in our party of 7 never bringing them their drinks. We eventually went up ourselves to get them. In addition when we asked the manager for assistance she was short with us and didn't offer to help. The food was great and so was the atmosphere but even the best food and beer isn't worth this kinda wait. We spent the rest of the night at another bar that would serve us and spent quite a bit of money once the beer started flowing. This was a Monday night and our second bad experience. Avoid this bar unless you don't mind busing your own tables.
- Pros: Affordable
- Cons: Slow, terrible service, hard to hear each other
Fun bar

They have good sushi, the bartenders are nice, and there's a pretty good beer selection. I'd probably avoid wednesdays unless you get there really, really early. It's fun and has good music. nice place to go with friends.
- Pros: Good food, beer and atmosphere
- Cons: parking and it's crowded
Nice atmosphere, even though smoky

This is probably my favorite bar in Salt Lake. The bartenders are attentive and really friendly. The waitresses are all hot, and they all (bartenders and waitresses) seem to spend considerable time hanging out at the bar on their time off; this is a good sign. It's nice to stop by and have a sushi roll and a few goblets of beer, both right at the bar. It's rarely crowded except on Wednesday nights, which I usually avoid.
- Pros: friendly, casual, good food
- Cons: parking?

A great local hangout, I frequent it all the time and know everyone there. The sushi is really very good and don't forget your beer schooners too!!
It was better.

Yes, it was, when O'Shucks was not a sushi place, but looked like an Irish pub. There were a local bands sometimes, it was crowdy, but not every day. Now it's became more popular, and sometimes it's difficult to find a place. Service of the waitresses sometimes could be really bad - maybe she was tired. Good collection of beer, though lack of draft lagers could be seeing immediately.
- Pros: Inexpensive
- Cons: , Smoke
A comfortable and happening space for music and drinks.

The Scene
O'Shucks is a much-valued friend of the local music scene. A variety of bands play here, from local, never-heard-of-'em Utah groups to great nationally touring reggae, ska and rock bands. An early evening crowd of white-collar types gives way to college students and dedicated music buffs as the night goes on.
The Draw
Live music adds an edge to the typical pinball and pool offerings at least four nights a week. Those who are hungry may miss the now-closed grill, but can still chow down on peanuts and throw the shells on the floor (whoa, the freedom). Microbrews and reasonably priced cocktails dominate the liquid refreshments.
Good music, atmosphere

O'Shucks lively bar in the basement of an old brownstone. The atmosphere is comfortable, and the bands are usually good. Avoid this place if you're looking for a place to talk and hang out with friends--it's a small bar and it gets quite loud at night.
- Pros: Good music
- Cons: Parking
