Great specials
by Bigguyone1 at Citysearch
The outdoor dining is great and the specials on mon-tues are definitely a bonus
Overall the sushi is good but not amazing. Most of the rolls are the usual with nothing really a standout on the rolls - BUT the sea bass cheek appitizer - YUMMY!! It is a must try. Very white and delicate with tremendous flavor.
It can have a wait on friday and saturday night.
The ambiance is good as it is an old, converted church with beautful stained glass windows.
- Pros: nice group seating upstairs, nice outdoor area for seating, specials make it worth while
- Cons: parking can be a pain - but short walk to alternative parking
We Love Ichiban!

The kobe beef appetizer was fantastic! We like to sit at the sushi bar and let the chefs create rolls for us. There are also plenty of really good dishes for non sushi people. I suggest you go early on Monday and Tuesday because they fill up fast.
- Pros: Cool Space, Great Food& Service
- Cons: None
Best Sushi In Town!
by gojazz1 at Citysearch
Me and my friends ate at Ichiban last night. OH MY GOD! It was such a great experience. The vegan curry croquette was do die for, the sushi was the freshest we have had in a long time, and the home-made apple dessert we had was something I will talk about for a while. The service was very friendly and helped my friend navigate the sake list. We had a great time, and cant wait to go back!
- Pros: Fresh sushi, great atmosphere, awesome sake list
- Cons: can be very busy, so get there early
Yuk! Sushi was dry and skimpy!

We used to come here years ago and it was nice atmosphere and we probably didn't know sushi very well. We went back there last night and the sushi was laughable. It was dry, tasteless and very little. The Jazz roll, which was $13, probably had about $2 worth of fish on it. Really disappointing. My husband ordered the Salmon Sashimi 5 piece, which was $15. We just couldn't help but laugh when it came. It was rolled up like a flower, but it was a tiny flower that a honey bee might land on! He at it in 2 bites. I bet the fish cost less than a few dollars.
We will never go there again. Save your money and try some of the smaller scale sushi places that are authentic.
- Pros: ambience, good poor of wine
- Cons: sushi, food
Good Sushi

We went to Ichiban to try our the half off rolls on Monday and Tuesday nights. The rolls were tasty, but the service was so slow. The place wasnt even that busy when we showed up at 6PM. We had a party of 8 and we didnt have a reservation because we planned to get together so late. They refused to give us a bigger table for a bigger party that wasnt coming until 8PM. We squeezed into a smaller table, but now I know why they couldnt give us the other table... BECAUSE THEYRE SERVICE IS SOOOO SLOW. Our waitress was nice, but it just took forever for our food to come out.
- Pros: Cheap Rolls
- Cons: Slow Service
Where's my tip?
by AkiraSneah at Citysearch
So the waiter was good UNTIL we were about to leave and we see our waiter running after our car so we stopped, thinking we forgot something. The waiter looked furious and said,"Where's my tip?" My husband said, "it's on the table you should have looked before running after us." And feeling stupid he just turned back and ran inside. I bet he ran to get his tip. I know tips are a big part of a waiter's salary but c'mon now running after us before checking to see if we tipped him or not!
- Pros: cool atmosphere
- Cons: waiter was shameless
bland and gross! terrible service

Don't be lure in by half price rolls on Monday and Tuesday! They're not worth it. If you look at the other reviews, that's why people like place. My wife and I have had sushi all over Salt Lake City and this was by far the most disappointing. After waiting for over an hour to get our sushi, it was not tasty and very boring. So we decided to try their signature roll which was the most expensive roll on the menu. We were trying to give them the benefit of the doubt by hoping we had just ordered some of their less impressive rolls. We were wrong! Gross!
Don't go here. The only reason I think this place does decent business is because the location is very hip and cool. It looks like a converted old southern style church-house. Very cool. But if you have any ability to recognize good vs. bad sushi, you will hate this place
- Pros: cool building and location
- Cons: bad sushi, really bad service, overpriced
Absolute worst sushi in Utah
by foodie84112 at Citysearch
For being in a really cool location it is the worst sushi restaurant in the entire valley. Yes, that includes grocery store sushi and all-you-can-eat joints. The fish is so far from fresh, it's a wonder people haven't gotten sick. Or perhaps they have but are too sick to write a review?
We have tried this place several times only to be suckered in by half price happy hour. Save your money and your stomache. Go somewhere, anywhere, else.
- Pros: Leaving and keeping it down?
- Cons: old fish, expensive prices and rude service
Yum!

Patio was very relaxing and provided a nice ambiance. You have to ask about the off the menu specials, like the hamachi comma (sp?) we had which was SO tasty. Two thumbs up.
Awesome!

- Pros: old church is cool
- Cons: none
Don't Eat Here!!
by robis28 at Citysearch
Sushi was average. Management and service were laughable. This was my first and will be my last experience at Ichiban. It was a friends birthday and were looking forward to a great experience, what we did get is a very long wait for food and as soon as we did get our sushi she asked if we wanted desserts because the kitchen is closing. We love sushi and have tried many places in Salt Lake. So many restaurants get it right here in SLC, Ichiban is not one of them!
