Best in Utah, True authentic cooking!
by poopstain2
I decided to try the Cedars of Lebanon a few weekends ago while my whole family was in town. Our group was about 13 people all of us being Lebanese, but living in other countries as well. Last time my Family was here visiting we went to Mazza and were so Disipointed, I was embarresed to have taken my family there. The food was plain out bad, and Not authentic like they claim.
We tried cedars and the food was just like it was back home. The atmosphere was very nice and reminded me of Lebanon. We had 13 different dishes and we all Loved each one! We were so full after like we should be the traditional way. I Highly Recommend Cedars of Lebanon a real Lebanese experience, Not a Fake middle eastern Restaurant that tires to pass off Garbage to the unknowing public as Lebanese Food!!!( MAZZA)
- Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere. You Get the Most for your Money
- Cons: Very busy on weekends! Recommend getting there early!
Good food but we felt duped!

In these tough economic times, we bought an entertainment book in order to be able to go out to eat more often on a budget. We had a coupon for Cedars of Lebanon which stated it was buy one dinner entree, get one free with a value up to $12.00. Under the coupon is a sample menu which lists dishes like Pastilla at $12.95. We understand this book came out 4 months ago and prices can be a little different, however we were surprised to find the same Pastilla dish listed on the menu for $18.95. We did try the food and the food was very good, however we wanted to advise that when all was said and done, this "buy one dinner entree, get one free," coupon only covered the tip!
- Pros: Food and Belly Dancing were good
- Cons: We felt duped.
Good, but not as authentic as I hoped!

My boyfriend and I were skiing in Utah and made it a point to visit this place on our way back to the airport. I am Lebanese and lived in Lebanon my whole teenage years. Of course I love the food and always crave a homemade meal. I didn't think the food here was as authentic as I hoped it to be. I got the chicken shawarma, which was very flavorful, but again not authentic. Chicken, garlic sauce, and rice flavors were absolutely delicious, but adding the green beans, carrots, and peas took away quite a bit from the flavor of the dish. However, It made it look really colorful, so I get the need for the presentation. Pita bread was too thick for what I am used to eating. Would recommend a dip to go along, if it's going to be served at first. Hummus was ok ? no garlic or lemon juice flavor. Pita bread was too thick for what I am used to eating. I would have also like to have seen more of Lebanon beauty on the walls.
Best Middle Eastern Food in SLC and anywhere else

These guys are friends so I am a little biased, but let me tell you if you ever eat at Cedar's on a good night, when they have some of their best belly dancers, you will become friends as well. This is a lot more than just going out to dinner. It is a standing party every weekend. I love these guys and all they do to bring diversity to Zion.
You can't lose, just go and have fun.
- Pros: You will feel like you are on vacation
- Cons: You will eventually have to leave.
Highly Recommend!

I first would have to Strongly DISAGREE with the last 2 comments! I am a Chef and teacher of a Culonary ARTS School in Reno, specialing in Middle Eastern Cuisine. I had been hearing about the Cedars Of Lebanon, and when visited Utah made a Special point to visit the Cedars. Their were four of us and we tried several meals and shared to try each. one of them. We all thought that the food Spectacular and the spices were most definatly Perfected!! I HIGHLY reccomend this Place to any persons who are wishing to have Exceptional and Very TRADITIONAL Tasting Food! I Must say their was absolutley not a Single fault that I saw in the Restaurants Food or services! I recommend you Meet the Owners they are Very Very nice people and definatly take care of their customers!!
- Pros: Spectacular Food, Great Service, Great atmosphere
- Cons: At Times TOO Crowded
avoid this place!

I would definately have to say that my experience at the cedars of lebanon was mediocre at best.
The belly dancer was fabulous, the food ...was pretty good, i liked the pastilla. How ever, it took me TWO HOURS to receive my meal, the restaurant owner treated us badly, refused to compensate for the unacceptable wait time, and then proceded to over charge my family.
I personally would not recommend this restaurant as a member of the Hasna family, due to their total lack of customer service.
i would how ever recommend a lovely little place called Cafe Med, need 400 E and 3300 So.
thank you
not authentic lebanese recipes

I took a Lebanese friend here when he come to visit Salt Lake and he was very disappointed that they claimed to serve menu items from Lebanon when the recipes are not authentic Lebanese recipes. I myself have tasted a lot of Lebanese food and also formed this opinion. On my last visit I decided to try the Moussaka. I guess I am used to the Greek version of this recipe but I threw away most of my dinner because I didn't like it. Even the Pita bread was a disappointment.
The belly dancing is a fun experience but sorry.. we just haven?t been happy with the food here.
The food was EXCELLANT

My sister and I went for the first time and really enjoyed the food and service. The chicken tagine and beef kabobs were exquisite. The dinner prices were a bit high but well worth it. We did see the belly dancer but we were too busy enjoying our meal to really pay attention. I will definitely go again and recommend it.
Disappointing

A group of us thought it would be a fun and interesting experience. None of us had been there before. We were there for about 2 hours and the belly dancer only came out twice. The rest of the time she sat at a table with some friends.
The food was decent, but not for the price. I expected more from a $20 plate.
- Pros: knowledgable and helpful server
- Cons: overpriced food; minimal belly dancing
