Attitude problem...

by Jbird69 at Citysearch

Your waiters/waitresses need to me more polite... my boyfriend and I walked in there and they are sitting on their asses and act like we disturbed their down time.. so the lady with this giant thing on her head... dread locks or some crap... ( gross/ unsanetary) come up and she is like where do you wanna sit... !!! or excuse me for not know ing EVERything about your restaurant!!! I had never been there before...

I am a vegan. and I am embarrassed sometimes to admit that I am one and placed like sage are the reason why. being Vegan does not mean you have to be a Hippie/sloppy/different. it means you CHOOSE not to eat certain things out of respect for other earthlings. so Adjust your attitude, dress like a professional person and stop being "unique" I don't want to be categorized because of people like you...

QUALITY!

by NYeater914 at Citysearch

Sage's is one of my favorite restaurants in Salt Lake city, breakfast, lunch, Dinner or desert. Eat in or take it out, the service and the quality are fantastic. Everything they have is made IN HOUSE! So if you have a specific diet or are Allergic to something they will give you a straight answer as to exactly what is in the dish (not to mention they have a menu that explains every ingredient so you dont have to ask) Every dish is amazing. They Servers are the nicest people ever. It is a pleasure to go to Sage's every time. My favorite part is that the foods so good, I bring my friends who are not vegan and don't tell them that the food is all vegan and they usually like it better than Non vegan versions of the dish they order!

I'm torn on this place...

by ReviewerD at Citysearch

What I love: The smoothies, the amazing carrot butter, and some of their daily soups are to die for. It's also worth mentioning that Sage's is in a home that was converted to a restaurant and it makes for a really cozy atmosphere.

What I really don't like: The service is slower than anywhere I've ever been. One reviewer noted that "All you can eat pizza night" is a frustrating experience and I couldn't agree more. They never seem prepared for the crowds and it isn't a deal because you'll walk away hungry.

One a positive note: If you have some time to kill and you don't want to be rushed out of a restaurant, this is the place to go. Avoid it on weekends or pizza night because it's noisy, the servers get impatient, and it's just not a pleasant experience.

  • Pros: Tasty food, great atmosphere.
  • Cons: Extremely slow service!

Not Fresh or Honest

by JARC at Citysearch

I used to be a pretty regular customer until I found out from one of Sage's employees they have a policy of serving the same batch of prepared food (soups, etc) for up to 5 (FIVE) DAYS. 3-5 days in my frig is when there is very little nutrition and is on the verge of spoiling. I toss food out at 4 days! Ian you lost me completely on this one. That is so

G R O S S ...

If you want to be irritated beyond belief go to "ALL YOU CAN EAT PIZZA" night and be hungry.

First it takes you forever to get a plate and the lone pizza server comes by about 3 times missing you. If you have been here before, that is maddening because you know what lies ahead. Once you finally get your pizza plate, you get wedges of delicious pizza 1 to 1 1/2" wide at the top.

It would take 3 pieces of this size of pizza to make a standard restaurant piece. Occasionally we were missed which is even more infuriating. After two hours and six little itsy bitsy pieces of pizza and tons of salad, we finally gave up and left.

The pizza server is clearly annoyed at those still in the restaurant waiting for pizza after a while.

The servers only response was "Yeah pizza nights are REALLY busy!" Well that isn't our fault and they either need an additional oven or whatever to provide the pizza for the demand. Ian get your act together and fix this long standing problem. You are not being honest to your customers charging what you charge and playing these types of games.

  • Pros: Good Tasting Vegan Food
  • Cons: Old food, etc., see below

delectable for all three meals!

by timothygs at Citysearch

I waited to write a review until I had been to Sages for all three meals. Their menu is expansive and impressive. It all sounded so good it was hard to decide. It all was so much better than good. The Philly cheez sandwich was unreal. The Mountain for breakfast tasted amazing!

  • Pros: perfect meals to crave
  • Cons: more expensive with the organic ingredients but worth every penny

Great vegetarian food in SLC, even for a non-vegetarian

by amyoutfit at Citysearch

The guac -n-rock burger and vegetarian tacos are great. We are in town for skiing and family, and my vegetarian daughter and husband were sick of salads and vegetable side dishes, so we were delighted to come across this restaurant while trying to find the other place greek restaurant, which used to be in the same building. The food tasted great, the service was good and the sun shining in the sun room felt great after a day of skiing. We were extremely happy to find another vegetarian option in SLC, and still feel a warm glow from the great food.

Fresh Fresh Fresh!

by cupcakeyoga at Citysearch

My roomate and I ate at Sage on Saturday evening. She had been before, and as a vegetarian loves the place! I am mostly veg...and Sage lived up to many built up expectations. We had lettuce wraps as an appetizer; followed by the soba salad and the wilted spinach salad. My only complaint is that the tempeh was a bit too salty...but the rest of the soba salad soaked up the extra salt well. I left perfectly full; and feeling good about eating really good food! Enjoy

  • Pros: Great window seating and chill atmosphere...not too hippie
  • Cons: Menu could be more varied...more warm, savory dinner dishes

Eclectic Dining Experience

by LostinAusten at Citysearch

I really love this restaurant. Sometimes the quality of their food is unpredictable. For instance, their mushroom stroganoff is mediocre, but their carrot butter and vegetarian tacos are excellent. I've found that the best way to order food there is to ask the waiter what their favorite dish is. If I do that, I always end up with something fabulous!

The atmosphere is chic, but cute and comfortable. The location is very close to Trax, and they have ample room to tie up a bike. The prices are steep, but the food is worth it.

  • Pros: atmosphere, location, chocolate desserts
  • Cons: price, occassionally inconsistent food

I had to return the following night to try a few other menu choices!

by melaniepepper at Citysearch

I loved the menu choices and had to go back the following evening to try a few other items. The ambiance of a neighborhood restaurant was appealing and the staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The "made from scratch" freshness of the food was worth waiting for. It's refreshing to go to a restaurant where you don't feel rushed and have time to chat with your dinner companions.

  • Pros: Relaxing, friendly attitude of staff and other patrons was refreshing
  • Cons: Limited Parking but worth the walk!

Vegan friendly, nice atmosphere, supports local art, liberal.

by iluvmiso at Citysearch

I really like Sage's mostly due to their awesome menu. I love All-You-Can-Eat Pizza night on Tuesdays after 5 o'clock. I'm glad it's back!

It's not slow but it's not fast either - as far as service goes. Just be chill and patient and you'll be satisfied. The food is great and the staff is awesome.

  • Pros: Vegan friendly, decent price, fresh food.
  • Cons: Parking can be horrible at times.
