Great food AND atmosphere
by worldviewer
A small and friendly place with extensive menu choices, pleasant atmosphere and 'they call you by name' service. Varied daily 'specials' (pastrami burgers), including a tasty big breakfast burrito, (only $3.95). A great Sunday stop (closed only on Saturdays). An excellent selection of fresh baked pastries and specialty coffees also.
- Pros: Quality, Value, Take Out
- Cons: Can be busy
Great Food
by regard
The food is fresh . The breakfast burito is terrific- they make their own chili verde and it is the best in town. The Malibu chicken sand on Thursdays is wonderful. The Mahi Mahi fish tacos with spicy sauce is great. I have had the lasagne and meatloaf- and they are equally good.
- Pros: fresh, friendly service, homemade pastries
- Cons: in demand, call ahead
A family-run cafe with down-to-earth breakfasts and lunches that make you feel at home.

The Scene
With the early morning sun slanting in through the large windows, this is an inviting spot for breakfast. The lunch crowd is mostly business folks who work in nearby offices. You'll order your meal from selections chalked on blackboards over the counter. Eat at one of the wooden tables or get it to go.
The Food
For breakfast, thick homemade bread makes the best French toast. Try the Sha Sha version--rolled in almonds with caramelized brown sugar and cinnamon. The buttermilk biscuits with plenty of sausage gravy are also tempting. For a filling lunch, try the daily soup and a half sandwich, topped off with a generous piece of warm Dutch apple tart. The Caesar salad is a plateful, but it's hard to resist the rich and creamy quiche of the day.
Downtown's Best Secret

It's easy to miss this place, it's tucked off of 400 South toward the back of the City Centre Building (across from the City/County Building). But Wow! It's worth going here for the friendly staff, good food, and cool surroundings. The coffee and cinnamon roll is out of this world, and apparently they have tables and chairs under the covered patio during warmer weather. I'll be back!
- Pros: Food, Service, Ambience
- Cons: Parking
