Two strikes and your out.

After much prodding by friends I tried Log Haven 5 years ago. The service was terrible and the food was less than thrilling. After hearing from friend that the service had improved and the food was great I decided to try it again. With an open mind I gave it a try. This time the service was slightly better. Atleast the waitress did not insult us this time. The food however had not improved. The concepts were interesting but the execution was poor. The sauces were not tight and flavorful. They either had too much liquor or too much salt. If you like ambiance this is a good place, but beware the food and service are greatly lacking.
- Pros: Good canyon views
- Cons: Continually bad serivce and bland food.
Lovely and Delicious
by sumann at Citysearch
This was my first time to Log Haven and we will definitely be back again. We went to Log Haven to celebrate our wedding anniversary because we heard it was a nice romantic place. Its a cozy cottage looking restaurant. Quiet and romantic indeed. The service was fantastic and the food delish!! We spent about $100 for the 2 of us plus the extra for tip, but it was worth it. We don't drink so the money was spent all on food :) I loved it!!
- Pros: Food, Ambience, Service
- Cons: None
Lovely Evening in a Beautiful Setting
by mspencer1818 at Citysearch
My husband and I went for our anniversary, and just fell in love (with the restaurant, we fell in love with one another a while back). Although I have heard of Log Haven for years, this was the first time I went. It is lovely in winter, with sparkling icicles, beautiful snow drifts, and a sense of being in a secluded, cozy cabin away from the elements. The service was good, the food was excellent, and we had a perfect seat near the fireplace. We are slightly "foodie" in our tastes, and the lobster and steak was all we hoped for - tender steak and delectable lobster. We tried the calamari and were impressed, and the creme brulee was also good. Altogether, the perfect venue for a romantic meal in the mountains. I look forward to returning and trying some of the more adventurous meals on offer.
Impressive Restaurant

I was very impressed with this restaurant. I took my girlfriend for a very romantic night and later on proposed to her. This is one of the few high class establishments in Northern Utah. The food presentation was excellent the taste was wonderful. The price was that of a high class restaurant. Will be back for a 2nd time. By the way she said YES! Thank you for an excellent experience and will be back for a "second date" but this time with my wife not girlfriend!
- Pros: Excellent experience - high class establishment.
- Cons: None
Not enough superlatives!
by fewgreen at Citysearch
There are not enough superlatives to describe our experience at the Log Haven. Thank you all for a wonderful night. The return of Chef Jones we were told has, in the staff's minds, bettered the experience. having never dined here we cannot say. But, his menu is exquisite with something for everyone. The tastes were well blended. Presentation unreal. The service is top of the line. We were not rushed to our table but were able to enjoy a cocktail by the beautiful fireplace while our son enjoyed viewing the memorabilia scattered around the restaurant and its entrance area. Did we forget to mention that the wonderful food, services, etc., were all enjoyed while the Log Haven was on generator power. Our trip from NC to UT will be remembered from the evening we spent with all of you in your beautiful restaurant. We will come back to see the waterfall lit up next time we are in Salt Lake. 5 star!
So Sad
by glibquip at Citysearch
What was once one of the premier dining experiences in Utah has become an over priced banquet hall. When Log Haven opened in the mid 90's it was wonderful, everything was fresh and unique, now it's sad and contrived. Maybe they should take a clue from Millcreek Inn and do one thing right instead of two things poorly. Fine dining they are not.
- Pros: Setting
- Cons: Everything else.
Log Haven Dog Days Very Nice Dinner for us and the pooch
by setaylor3 at Citysearch
Went to Log Haven's Dog Days of Summer last night. Fabulous meal and service. They went out of their way to treat us and our dog very well. The setting was beautiful, food wonderful and we were able to watch the "floor show" of our dog and another dog have fun running around, chasing each other and wrestling. We will definitely go back.
Exquisite Wedding

Thank you so much for all your hard work & helping with countless details and decisions! Everything was absolutely perfect! We planned everything in the winter and had to trust you on what it would be like...the pictures don't do it justice! None of our guests could get over the beauty of it all! We're still hearing about how wonderful the scenery was. Thanks again!
Best in the state!

An incredible restaurant. What a find!
Enjoyed crab cake appetizer, pan roast rabbit for entree. My new favorite! Rabbit was melt in your mouth and the polenta/mushroom accompaniment ? wow. Tried several other items with friends ? salmon, bison, pasta ? all excellent.
Delectable key lime cheesecake and chocolate tart. Great vibe in the restaurant ? amazing views. Perfect service, efficient, gracious and not pretentious. Extensive wine list ? it just gets better and better. Ask for patio seating near the waterfall. Go ? visit ? be amazed.
- Pros: Thumbs way up for everything.
- Cons: Nada
Amazing Experience
by Jessy70 at Citysearch
My Friend and I dine out together once per month, we take turns choosing the restaurant. Friday night 5/23/08 Log Haven was her choice. The ambiance was amazing, our view incredible and the food divine. We had a wonderful time. The staff was professional and all lent to an amazing experience. I would recommend this establishment to anyone and plan on taking my husband for Father?s Day.
- Pros: Everything
- Cons: Note to Parents.. Leave your small children and Babies at home only you enjoy them.
What a disappointment
by mtnguru at Citysearch
My husband and I shared our first date at Log Haven over 6 years ago and recently returned to celebrate our anniversary. What use to be a fabulous dining experience has turned out to be a huge disappointment in service, menu, and quality of food. The manager himself was extremely rude when asked to open the bottle of wine we brought and our server did not know the menu, behaving very 'plastic' during the entire evening. When we did get our food it honestly tasted terrible. Log Haven use to be such a romantic, delicious fine dining choice and now I would only go to enjoy the waterfall - eat somewhere else.
- Pros: Mature landscaping; waterfall across the street
- Cons: Poor quality of food and poor service
