I called two plumbers to give estimates for a new kitchen faucet. The first was Neerings. Unfortunately for us when they showed up I was at work and he completely took advantage of my wife. When he came to the door he told her he was there to "install our new kitchen faucet." Since she did not know he was only to bid the faucet, she thought (and was told) I had arranged it. You would think you could trust a professional company--NOT Neerings! As he removed the faucet my wife asked if he had the new faucet. He said it was in his truck. He proceeded to remove the old faucet, installed the new one, and then gave my wife a bill for $697 (to "remove and install new faucet and fix a leak.") and told her to sign in the two places on the invoice. My wife was floored but she could not get me by phone and paid. I found out and called Neerings to resolve the matter. I was personally attacked by the owner, my concerns were not addressed, and customer service and the owner denied any wrongdoing. I canceled the check, called two other times to resolve the problem and they did not return my calls. I then sent the faucet back to Neerings (I had the 2nd plumber install a faucet we actually wanted and he did it for $90), and filed a complaint with the business bureau. Neerings sent the faucet back to me and again denied any wrongdoing. They responded to my bureau complaint with more lies (including a whopper about how they tried to resolve the problem with me and I refused.) and denied again any wrongdoing. Today I received a notice of a lien on my property. This company is unbelievable, not only did they install the faucet in a way that was unfathomable but their prices are completely outrageous and they refuse to even try to resolve anything. I think they do this because they know they can take advantage of people and they continually get away with it. DO NOT CALL NEERINGS FOR ANY REASON, THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF--THEY ARE THE WORST COMPANY I'VE EVER DEALT WITH.

Neerings charged me $485 to replace a capacitor for my air conditioner ($85 for the service call $395 to install the capacitor). Found the part online after they left by the part number for $15 (26 times what I was charged). This was the only thing he replaced, which took about 15 minutes. The tech was dismissive at best and really didn't seem to know what he was talking about. Unfortunately was is in a jam and couldn't shop around. I will never use them again! Sadly I trusted them.... And to the 3 obviously planted positive reviews, if you think you think it is OK to charge someone 26 times the actual cost of a part then you may just be stupid enough to use them again. Imagine paying $520,000 for a Honda Civic. " Ya it is expensive, but it was here on time"... It looks like your Dad really knows how to rip people off. (For those of you who haven't seen or heard Neerings ads, his son is on the adds saying "My Dad can fix that")

Our AC unit was not working. I called in for a repair and gave them my cell number and explained that any thing they find please call and approve the repair with me. They sent a plumber Monday morning. Oops. Then Tuesday they sent an HVAC repair man. I was waiting for the call that the compressor or the electric fan on the ac unit outside went out. But, no, instead they took advantage of my wife. Oops. I called my wife and she said it cost 338.00. The receipt said standard dispatch charge 85.00 and 253.00 charge to change fuse and wash the outdoors unit, check amp draw. Well this was just too much I think the fuses should be cheep and to wash and check the electrical not that big of a deal. Plus this was all done last spring and all was good. We had Utah Power out last week because of a shorted out electrical cable in our neighborhood. Could be related or not, who knows. But the HVAC service man said when power goes out during storms or whatever it will break again and just call and they will fix it. Well, I was so upset that I cancelled the check. I called and asked for a manager, yes, I was a little upset and it must have showed and the dispatch hung up on me. Must happen a lot with these people. It took three more calls to get a manager to call me back. I told them all the money they will get is 85.00 for the standard dispatch charge and 10.00 for the fuses. I can check the amp draw and give things a bath for free, and I’m capable of changing fuses. I did not know we had these old fuses in our unit. I told him I did not appreciate that they took advantage of my wife and stole money from us. YOU LOST ANOTHER COSTOMER!
Pros: can give a 300.00 bath
Cons: too expensive

In regards to the first review: a little expensive? No, no. A lot expensive. Not to mention, their customer service is horrible, and they really do sub-standard work. I would stay well away from these guys. Don't even chance it.

I have worked with Neerings for about 10 years now and they are the only company that I will call when it comes to plumbing, heating and air conditioning. Yes, they are a little expensive. But I am willing to pay more because they give excellent service and I know that the job will be done right the first time. Call the other guys for cheaper prices and poor work. Service men are very clean cut, professional and on time. I would recommend them to anyone!

I give Neerings Plumbing and Heating ZERO stars. They bid a job, not a flat rate or time and materials. My bid was for repair of zero to three feet of copper pipe and the bid was $430! The plumber sweated in two copper fittings and replaced no pipe. The entire job took about 35 minutes. Not bad pay for 35 minutes of work, huh? Why did I accept the bid? I accepted it because water had been off in my house for 12 hours and my upset wife was threatening to go to a hotel if I didn’t get water on soon. I felt pressured to accept the bid. I felt so cheated that I went to Neerings and personally talked with the “customer service representative” and I use that term loosely. He actually told me the job wasn’t bid correctly because the plumber also hooked up two hose fitting, so the job should have been bid at $510! I got zero satisfaction talking with the “customer service representative.” I personally think they are a bunch of crooks, and I most strongly recommend steering clear of Neerings Plumbing and Heating. Postscript: The original work wasn’t done correctly and Neerings had to come back out and completely redo the whole job.
Pros: None
Cons: Absurd prices

"My dad can fix that" - if you're willing to pay him over $300 per hour in labor charges! A 1.5 hour service call for routine cleaning and maintenance on my furnace cost me just under $600. The only parts they replaced were my air filter (the ones you buy at Home Depot for about $2 each) and a thermocouple that the technician said was so inexpensive that he replaced it free of charge even though my old one was working fine. I never would have agreed to the price if the technician hadn't pointed out several "problems" that he was concerned about prior to starting the job. I assumed this would mean the work was going to take several hours, but in fact, the "problems" never materialized. Now I suspect that this was just a tactic to get me to agree to the absurdly high price. I later found out that reputable area businesses charge $100 - $200 for the exact same service. These guys should be sued for price gouging. BUYER BEWARE!

2 hours labor + $108 part cost us $1,071!!! They won't break the invoice down for you - he told me "we don't do that" - we asked for the warranty paperwork for the "new" part they installed - "we'll look into that for you" - -I can't believe we didn't think to ask or look around first and this is completely our fault that we paid, but if we can save someone else from getting completely ripped off by these dishonest, lying, cheating creeps then at least something good will come out of being swindled. Want a good HVAC company? Hansen HVAC - 801.280.8812. Prompt, courteous, reasonable, they will write down a detailed invoice and give you the warranty paperwork for whatever part(s) they replaced. Basically what any decent company should do. I can't believe Neerings is in business - now at least I understand how they pay for those expensive radio/print ads!

I was in California so my Mom called these clowns to come out and give her an estimate on fixing her swamp cooler. They told her the total bill would be a little over $300.00 and then charged her $80.00 for the estimate. She called me in Cal. and told me what was going on and I told her not to do anything until I got home. When I returned I got up on the roof and to fix the leak I used about 1 inch of plumbers tape. Cost, $0.00, time spent, 10 minutes. Neering has no conscience. "My dad can fix that". Your dads on low life con artist kid!
Cons: con artist, likes to rip off old ladies!

I called Neerings because my dishwasher wasn't getting any water. The plumber came out next day and wanted to replace the valve underneath my sink. He wanted over $500 (for a VALVE!) but I was in a bind and agreed to the work. After completing it, the dishwasher still wasn't getting any water. AFTER he did the work, he diagnosed the problem: the dishwasher's solenoid was bad, which he was not qualified to fix. I called the office every day for four days before someone would call me back. I explained that the 5-minute diagnosis should have been done BEFORE the work was recommended, but Mike D. insisted that I had authorized the work, so no refunds. I thought I was hiring an expert and trusted his recommendation. Turns out it was just a guess. He was friendly and on time, but incompetent, expensive, and inflexible. I'm pursuing with the relevant reporting agencies.
