I expected more than what I got!! Pick somewhere else to dine in the Foothill Villiage.
Limited and tastless entres. My food was cold when it was brought out,and the srvice was terribly slow. This is one place that is crowded but I dont know why it would be!
Skip this place for sure!!
- Pros: Nice interrior thats it!!
- Cons: Everything else! Horrible.
If you are expecting consistancy go to McDonalds.

cold, greasy, soggy, tasteless. I hate chains but we should have eaten next door to TGI Friday's. :(
- Pros: Good house pasta salad.
- Cons: Servers seem bored and can't be bothered. Unpredictable.
Decent Food - Rank Service

I have found the food to be average to good at Red Butte but have noticed a decline in their service. Last night I walked in to the smell of pungent Body Odor or Goat Cheese, I wasn't sure which but gave RB the benefit of doubt. As we were being seated by a young Rastafarian I quickly recognized the source and it was not goat cheese. It was the negative effects of insufficient hygiene. That is his own choice but to be work in public in the food industry and to represent Red Butte as the face (and now smell) of their business was a real disappointment. All night as this attendant sauntered around the restaurant I was reminded of his stink and Red Butte's poor attention to quality.

I've been going to Red Butte Cafe regularly for 10 years now and I think it's a great place to grab some fresh food for a reasonable price.
My favorites items on the menu are the sandwiches (hot open-faced herb roasted sirloin) and salads (I can't decide on my favorite- they are all delicious) rather than the entres, so I generally leave there spending $20 to $25 bucks for 2 people, yest I'm rarely able to finish my plate. I also think those items (lighter side vs full entrees) is where their menu y really shines with innovatio and amazing flavors.
I HIGHLY recommend the house pasta as your side dish. Sure the fresh fruit or green salad is good, but the pasta noodles are made on site daily, just as fresh as all of their other ingredients they use. I also have to mention their decadent deserts. They have something for everyone, but if you like chocolate you will be especially pleased.
In 10 years, my experiences have always been good. Yes service can slow down a bit when the place get's hopping, but nothing unsatisfactory, just normal. I've never been left wanting, regarding the service or the food.
- Pros: Ambience, freshness, food quality, desert!
- Cons: Ambient noise can be a problem if you are their with elderly and booths aren't available
Certainly a gem in SLC

I read a review right here on citysearch and was amazed by the recommendation about the red trout salad. So a buch of us decided to try out this place on a saturday. The place is unpretentious - located just below a busy TGIF overlooking a mall parking lot. But as you enter you see smiling staff faces and yummy bakery items displayed upfront. seating was prompt and service was exzcellent - we were served by a smart and helpful person- who seemed happy with the menu and thats always a good sign. the place was full and typically boisterous - we like that kind of a place when we go in large groups. And I did have the red trout salad - it was quite special and uniquely preapred with the right amount of greens, sauces and nuts. A friend tried the southwest chicken salad and she praised it as well. for dessert we had their orange chocalte cake and it was decidedly the best one we had tried in some time. overall, its highly recommended that you visit this place if you are from this town or from out fo town - you will have a good time here. the next time I go up there I will sample their wine menu and write back soon. parking is never a problem - in the summer months they have outdoor patio seating - the only downside being it looks out into a busy mall parking lot - not a very pleasant sight - although note that the patio is one level above the street level - that way you wont get directly pounded by exhaust from slow vehicles in the lot.
Worth a visit

Enjoyable food, I liked the French Onion Soup. It's endured quite a while with good atmosphere and food.
Parking can be tough.

Red trout salad

The red trout salad may be the best thing I ever ate. I have gone from SLC Airport to Elko, NV by way of the Red Butte, at least 45 miles out of the way, for a red trout salad. My truck is programmed, when it comes down the mountain, it goes directly to the Red Butte Grille, like a cruise control for the steering.
- Cons: Don't realy open unti

A can't miss local haunt for those who simply want a good meal for not a lot of dinero. Whether you go for the flavorful Mexican burger, the spicy Southwest Chicken Breast sandwich or the Beer Battered fish taco in a smokin' jalapeo remoulade sauce, there are winners aplenty at Red Butte! Red Butte also has the best catfish sandwich this side of the Mississippi that shouldn't be missed! And you can't leave the Butte without trying at least 4 of the fine desserts that greet you when you first walk into the restaurant. Sierra Nevada pale ale is available as well as some local selections, all of which can hold their own with the southwest flavor of Red Butte.
PROS: Great food, atmosphere, service
CONS: Parking can get pretty tricky on weekends at Foothill Village

This is the place to meet up with the girls, have dinner with the hubby or to catch up with old friends. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed with a balcony patio to enjoy those warm Utah summer days. The food is excellent, ranging from wonderful pub sandwiches to mouth watering chicken enchiladas or duck for dinner. They serve beer and wine and have the most delicous desserts - especially the 3 layer chocolate cake, fruit torte or the chocolate orange mousse cake. This is the place to go to suit anyone's tastebud.

Red Bute Cafe is a wonderful little place for lunch and dinner. Menu inclues great southwestern salads, top knotch sandwiches made to order and a knock out pastry counter. The prices are just right for the quality of food and the atmosphere is pretty hip!
PROS: $, location
CONS: Parking is a nightmare!
