Based on the positive reviews on this site, we opted to take our new Rescue Border Collie to see Dr. Gold. She was in need of a kennel cough vaccination and her back dew claw nail had wrapped ALL the way around and was going through her pad as well as tunneling through the nail itself. She was abused during the first two years of her life (mostly by a male) and seemed to do surprisingly well with Dr. Gold despite him being a male presence. He had his assistant hold her while he did her nails and gave her the kennel cough vaccine so fast she didn't know that it happened. It was painless! He also took her nerves extremely well. She ended up defecating on their table and he took it all in stride. If he's so well with a rescue animal, I can only imagine how wonderful he is with a pet who's had a good life!

My family (and now my husband and I) have been going to Forest Hills as long as I can remember. We just love Dr. Gold-- and it seems like a lot of people do because last time we were there, we met a family who comes down all the way from Wyoming just to go to Forest Hills. Most recently, our dog had an embarassing (and SMELLY) gland problem, and Dr. Gold removed them, oh happy day. And get this-- our dog actually still gets EXCITED when we drive by their office. I think that says it all right there.
Pros: Awesome vet, great prices
Cons: None

My dog needed to be boarded over Thanksgiving and I was afraid to take him to an off-leash kennel. I started calling and touring other kennels in my area and was getting very discouraged, but when I got to Forest Hills all of my worries went away. When I came through the door a very happy receptionist greeted me and showed me out to the kennel. I walked through a nice sized yard and then to the kennel area. The kennel was large sized for my little schnauzer and was very clean. My dog stayed there for 5 days and came home very tired and happy.
Pros: very clean and well organized
Cons: limited sunday hours

I have been taking my animals to Forest Hills for about 7 years and the animals have always come back to us happy and well taken care of. My one dog is extremely shy, but they have no trouble with him. I would recommend them to all who have animals. They also have a very complete hospital with a great staff.
Pros: Great people doing a great job
Cons: None

I boarded my Chihuahua at Forest hills Pet Hotel for 5 days. While he was there , they said that if he was 'nervous' or 'not eating' they would call me and then give him a seditive. I called everyday to check on him, and was told each time that he was "doing great". Unfortunately, when I got him home, I noticed he had chewed a HUGE hole in his blanket. Now he is throwing up, not going to the bathroom, tired and sick. I think he may have an intestinal blockage from eating his blanket! I'd call that being nervous... So now, I will have a HUGE vet bill to go along with the HUGE hole. Bummer. On the good side, I had him groomed while there and they did a great job. The staff was very friendly also.
Pros: Friendly staff, great grooming
Cons: My dog ate through his blanket out of nerves and no one noticed...

Dr. Gold is willing to take the time to check with your pet and also willing to take the time to explain things to you. He is very friendly and knows exactly what he is doing. When I got my beagle, she had some skin and stomach problems. I took her to 2 different vets and wasn't really impressed with either. They acted like they didn't care and just wanted to get you out of there as quickly as possible. That is not the case at Forest Hills, they were very patient and helped me and my dog multiple times until she was better. They are really the best around. You think that you would have to pay a premium for such service but you don't. Forest Hills has the best and most fair prices. Don't let the building scare you away, since it is a little dated. It is clean and completely functional. If you take your animals here you will have the piece of mind knowing that they are being well taken care of and you don't have to go broke doing it.
Pros: Knowledgable, friendly, patient
Cons: none

Dr. Gold has been our vet for the last 13 years. I also board my two large weimaraners with them when I go out of town. Both office and boarding area are spotless and although the building is dated the practice is not. In my experience with other vets (other peoples dogs (I am a dog person)) his prices are more than fair. He is a quiet man that listens to what you have to say and then checks with the animals to see if its true. His staff is very professional and caring as well and not to be understated. For those animal/people you care about he is the man.
Pros: Caring Professional One on One enviroment
Cons: tight parking

Dr Gold and his staff were recommended by a friend and it's one of the best references I've ever received of any kind. His staff is fast, proficient, and go above and beyond the call of duty. For the service I received, I expected to pay a lot more. I trusted this staff with my best friend and they treated her like their own. I've since moved but it's a no brainer, we make the drive. I go the extra miles because they do. A++
Pros: 24 hour emergent care, close parking, great location
Cons: bldg hrd 2 find @1st
