The reason why there's a flamingo named Pink Floyd living out in the Great Salt Lake.

The Scene
Under normal circumstances, a flamingo would never be able to survive outside its natural environment or under curated conditions, but it just so happens that flamingos love shrimp, water and salt. The aviary itself is the oldest public aviary in America and has flourished in Utah since it was established more than 60 years ago.
The Experience
It features exhibits, bird shows and education stations where kids can learn about birds. Sometimes there's a kids' sleep-over designed to educate and entertain children. The Aviary also offers birthday party packages to delight young bird watchers, and has even added some kookaburras. Admission is nominal, and all proceeds go to help support the aviary and its programs.

My children were thrilled with the opportunity to have the parrots sit on their hands and to have the chance to feed them. We spent quite awhile enjoying being one with nature.
- Pros: Hands On Experience, Employees were helpfu
- Cons: Little smelly
Great for kids

This aviary has many exotic species in a clean, lush environment. And the park's central location makes for a quick urban getaway. It's a great place to bring kids--they marvel at the colorful birds and the noisy squakers. But if you're an adult, and you haven't been here since that third-grade field trip, you might want to check it out again. Many people forget it's here, though they see it every time they come to Liberty Park.
- Pros: Good parking
