great fresh food, lovely atmosphere, nice staff
by rubyclaire
I really like cucina. Food is for the most part always delightful. The iced tea is some of the best. The location. The perfect Patio. The only thing is the moody owner, who probably gives all the cute girls there a hard time or maybe he comes off as being too flirty. Nice loafers btw. He is eternally golfing ( or looks like it ) My biggest complaint is there is no tip line on the credit receipt slip. I have asked the owner about it before and his arrogant response was that , if i wanted to tip i could just tell him before hand. What a joke. Those girls deserve to be tipped, they have to deal with him and half the yuppies that come in there. GO AVENUES. HA
- Pros: great food, atmosphere, location, lovely staff
- Cons: funny manager, a little pricey.
Spotty service, decent food
by intersection
I live about a block from Cucina. I find that about half the time their service is ok. They offer a lot of pretty yummy food, but I find it a bit pricey for a deli. Their lattes are not so good and their coffee is decent when it is fresh. The last two times I went in their coffee was lukewarm. The first time, when I brought it back they offered to microwave it for me (mmm microwaved coffee)... the second time I got cold coffee I told them and the guy at the counter said "oh sorry" and went back to what he was doing. If you have nowhere better to go and you want passable food in a nice italian cafe atmosphere go to cucina, if you want some real coffee go to Two Creeks down the street on 3rd and G.
- Pros: Ambiance
- Cons: bad coffee, spotty service
Second location in Old Mill Business center is poor
by bugmenot21856
Cucina recently opened a second location in the Old Mill business center. The 5$ sandwhich frequently comes with 2, maybe 3 pieces of meet and for some reason the wheat bread has been stale 2 out of 3 times.
The fresh foods, such as lasagnas, meat loafs, and other family fun foods are microwaved to perfection out of their cold case and their staff is not very friendly. Specifically, the man who appears to be the owner (pretty sure, anyway) tends to be a little moody and spends more time flirting with women than helping other customers.
The original deli may be a WIN, but it's clear that additional locations are going to be all about the magic dollar, poor food quality, and less than favorable service.
- Pros: Close to employess of Old Mill
- Cons: Poor product, expensive, poor service from management.
A gourmet deli that creates a visual and edible feast.

In Short
This colorful, bustling place features tables set amid shelves packed with cooking utensils, imported goods and other items for sale. Mediterranean flavors and comforting dishes that make you feel at home. The deli case holds heaping plates of chicken, poached salmon spirals, lasagna and grilled vegetables. There's also a rainbow of salads and pastries including pies, tarts, cookies and cakes, as well as numerous fresh-baked breads.
great locale, really enjoy it

This is a great place. I love the atmosphere, and the regulars. Being from the neighborhood helps of course, but I've always had a good meal here. It's a good sized menu for the type of place it is, and they're always coming up with good daily specials.
Wonderful!

I was introduced to Cucina by a friend and I'm so glad she did! The atmosphere is great and the food was wonderful. Try the meatloaf sandwich - yum.
- Pros: Great Food, Variety on Menu, Atmosphere
- Cons: Parking
I love Penny
by mrhoades
Penny Murphy, the chef at Cucina does such a refreshing job at Cucina. I love the fact that there is always something new to try and the staff is helpful with suggestions at lunch time. We bring staff from the office all the time and although the line is long, we have always had great experiences. Keep doing a great job Cucina, you are appreciated.
- Pros: patio, gazpacho
NOt worth the hype
by morefoodplease
We went at lunch- they are pretty busy and possibly can't pay attention to details as well during that time. Our group's food came out at different times. I had to ask twice about my order, which I got halfway through the other's meal. The salads are pricey so go for the smaller portions. The sandwiches are filling. The desserts are ordered in and are rather small.
- Pros: patio dining
- Cons: service, price
Lunch or dinner in a snap
by peterbehle_citysearch
The prepared meals here are outstanding -- no matter what you choose. It does get pricey, but this is quality food we're talking about. The folks here take pride in packing stuff up for the ride hom, too -- so no worries about it ending up on the floor of your car. And ask for a sample of whatever you're interested in.
- Pros: Superior quality
- Cons: A bit pricey
Best Sandwiches ...& Brownies EVER
by puppazoid
Go for the Tuscan Chicken Sandwich or the Portabello Mushroom on foccacia.... the bread is made fresh daily (by Volker's) and the drizzles are first rate. I have a brother from San Francisco who makes it a point of stopping here first---yes folks, it is THAT good. Take a brownie home with you too. They won 't get fudgier nor chewier than these! The take out food for dinners are great too. Try the Thai beef and the elaborate rice dishes. And in the crisp fall air, go for a cup of Pumpkin Leek soup... you can't miss here. Cucina: best lunch spot in Utah.
- Pros: Great Avenues locale
- Cons: lunch crowd huge
