Terrible experience
by AZSam
My experience at Port of Call was horrible. I dropped in there in hopes of catching the end of a baseball game that I was listening to in the car. It took me 15 minutes to find someone who could change a television to the game. I waited and waited only to be told it wasn't on. I assured the it was and if they only search they will find it. I went up to the manager who assured me his staff was much knowledgable about the games that were on then me and I must be wrong. Just then the bartender who I spoke with prior - said I guess I can go waste my time again if you want me to. I turned to the manager and said what is that ? He merely shrugged his shoulders. As I am headed out the door - the same bartender says hey I found it - you happy ? I was able to watch the end of the game and left as soon as I could.
I wouldn't recommed this place to watch any ballgames. The staff could care less what you want to watch.
- Pros: Good location
- Cons: Terrible service - staff has horrible attitude
Getting to popular for its own good
by yohansi
While the bar is fun on Fridays. The terrible door man and staff of bouncers keep you waiting in line even when the bar is relatively empty. The door man needs some behavioral classes as he is the biggest waste of skin I've ever run into waiting in line for a bar.
- Pros: Good looking people
- Cons: This is a place where everyone tries to pretend they are someone important...
CROWDED! Not the most fun I've ever had.
by rockerbaby
This may be the cool place to hang after work, but at night it is way too crowded. Got hassled getting in on Saturday. Nowhere to sit, service took FOREVER and the prices were a bit high. The only redeeming grace is that you have to meet new people because everyone is in your personal space bubble. Drinks were good, but this will not be on my "must do" list.
- Pros: Good drinks and lots of poeple
- Cons: Too many people, not enough servers
Drunk Billiard Games all the way
by vegasbaby21
it was fun, i'm not gonna say amazing, but i would defintatly go there on a daily basis. it's big enough as to where you won't be running into people constantly and you can have your own space. Billiards are cheap, you could play 6 games for the price of a regular beer. Speaking of Beer, that's really well priced too. You could get a massive mug, I'm talking like a 40 oz mug for like the price of two hamburgers at mcdonalds. :) I liked it. Defintatly a great place to chill with your friends after an irritated day at work.
- Pros: Cheap, but Good
- Cons: wood floors - easy to slip on when your durnk :)
Adults and tourists...
by talibanbarbie
....you really should avoid this place. It used to be the "old stand by", however; we went last Friday night and I was mortified. The crowd was white trash and I felt like someone was going to pull out a gun. Thank god they didn't.
- Pros: They serve beer
- Cons: You might need a gun to keep safe.
Best Bar in SLC
by msdvl00
This is the best bar in Salt Lake by far. Being downtown, the location is great, and the people are a lot of fun. The food is great. Since you have to buy a membership is SLC, this is the place to do it.
What happened to the customer

Port O'call used to be a great place any day of the week. Since the Olympics in 2002, the size of the club as well as the size of the staffs heads ballooned out of proportion. Getting a drink isn't easy there, and even if you managed to obtain one it might have tasted decent if the bartender paid attention to "bartender 101." I just feel the staff should take more initiative in setting the mood for the clientele, instead of the bleak loss of personality from the get go. It was good when I was 21, now its an eye sore on 4th south. There are too many good choices for bars and clubs to settle with Port O'Call.
- Pros: drink selection, crowded
- Cons: no personality, smokey, lack of talent
Three levels of pool, live music and people-watching highlight this hoppin' club.

The Scene
Break out of the virtual-sports world of the main floor and basement and head upstairs to the large patio, where you'll find the perfect place to people-watch while sipping a brew. With three levels of pinball, pool tables, live entertainment, interactive trivia games and televisions at every turn, there are plenty of things to keep you entertained.
The Draw
The food is good enough for a respectable business lunch or pre-game dinner. Popular favorites include chili verde, nachos, burritos and burgers. Sit back, tune into a hockey slugfest and enjoy a pitcher of beer. Port O' Call has plenty of brew, and since it's a private club, it also serves liquor. Live music includes rock, jazz, blues and disco, plus DJs and more.
Good Place!
by ginny1956
I completely disagree with the previous review. The whole scene is fun and lively. The food excellent and the service has always been good too. It is the place to see and be seen. A good mix of customers, young and mature both. The drinks have always been good and with three floors of entertainment how can one go wrong? The trick is to get there early, before 9pm. My only wish is that they would have more band nights.
- Pros: variety, food, entertainment
- Cons: crowded, smokey
Down The Tubes
by willeyt
I used to enjoy this place before they decided to expand. Now the service SUCKS. The drinks are WEAK, even for Utah standards, and the whole scene is HORRIBLE. If you are considering going here, I have one bit of advice: Walk by, hand the bouncer everything in your wallet and walk away feeling ripped off. At least you'll still have those hours of your life you would have wasted by going in.
- Pros: 1 hot waitress
- Cons: , parking, drinks
