No Strangers Here

My boyfirend and I visited SLC last week. I had placed a craigslist ad asking for gay bars in the area. Most replies included The Trapp as a suggestion. We were made to feel welcome there instantly! A very nice, and cute regular showed us around. Our newest and most favorite bartender in Utah was wonderful, treating us like old friends! We bought a one year membership as we'll definitely visit them again.
I just hope that the younger, weekend crowds will stop abusing one of the few, good gay bars they have!
Spacious and friendly downtown bar with a surprisingly big back patio.

The Scene
The cheap draft beer served in mason jars and the casual, speakeasy atmosphere gives the Trapp the feel of a gay Irish pub. This cozy hangout behind Gateway has a tight front bar, a mellow back room with pool tables and a lowered dance floor in between. The patio is shielded from the neighborhood by high trees. On a summer night, there's no better place to relax with a cold one and a table full of friends.
The Crowd
The back room fills up with regulars--both men and women--and overflows onto the cool patio when things get hot. The crowd is friendly, middle-aged and middle-class, with a hint of country hoedown.

I've always had a good time at The Trapp. There's plent of good music, pool tables, dart boards, and of course cute boys!!! Also, now that The Trapp Door is open, you pay one cover charge (which I believe is only $3.00) on the weekends and you get into both places, which are right next door to each other. Both clubs are fun so check them out!!!
- Pros: Cute Boys!!, Crowded on Weekends, Pay one cover charge
- Cons: Its on the west side, Parking
cruise in comfort

the trapp and trapp door provide something for every age group. Great dancing at the door on fridays and saturdays. Comfortable county atmosphere at the trapp during the week. A bar that appeals to gay and straight alike from 21 to 80.
- Pros: dancing, cruising, socializing
Good Spirits and Hot Oh my God Hot Guys

The Trapp is the ulitmate place to go to have a few drinks and mingle with some people with similiar likes. I notice that straight people as well as gay people mingle there. Good music and people willing to teach young and new people the way to dance the right way.
- Pros: Inexpensive, Good Music, Unquie atmosphere
- Cons: Crowded on weekends, scary area
Country Only!!!

If its country music you are after you might enjoy the trapp. It has a much older and not so well dressed crowd. A ok place for after work, but not really the best place for the good dance music. More of an over 35 crowd that is more intrested in pool and drinkin. If you just want a simple night of sleezing then the trapp might be ok for you.
- Pros: not dressey, good country, nice patio
- Cons: smokey, older crowd, no quities
