This is an all time favorite of ours that we frequent almost every weekend (when we can). Love the meatball sandwiches, pesto pasta, lasagna, caprese salad.... The food is always fresh and the staff is very friendly. With the new expansion of the market to include the deli, we can grab some food to make later. We also love their selection of chocolate :)

Been trying to find a decent mufulletta since I moved here in March from Atlanta. Tony Caputo doesnt know what he is doing either. A couple of pointers, you don't make a mufulletta with focacia bread or french bread, or any other bread for that matter. French bread - if that is what it actually is (according to their menu) is way to heavy and does not have sesame seeds. Mufulletta bread is the only right bread for this sandwich - large and round, not heavy, easy to eat. The olive spread is all wrong also. Olives with pickled cauliflower, celery, peppers - and it should all be ground up, not too finely - a nice relish. Caputo's is just sliced olives and peppers. Its an okay italian sandwich, not a mufulletta.

This place is great! I go to this place as often as I can to get the Italian Cold Cut. The food is very high quality, and the market has a great collection of meats and cheeses. Additionally, their chocolate cake is amazing. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Pros: Great food and service. The sandwiches are very good and the service is great as well

Cons: Not many cons that I can think of.

I decided to try this deli Caputosand I was so unhappy.I got a meatball sandwich and it was nothing to brag about! The Bread was dry and there wasent a whole lot of anything on it.I recommend Grove Market Deli to all of you ,There is a meatball sandwich to die for and the cost is about half.I am sorry to Caputos but it is the truth. And at groves you are treated like a king or queen they don't act like there doing you a favor to serve you like Caputos does.A very unsatisfied customer I won't ever be back

Pros: Not A good sandwich

Cons: Awful service

Tony Caputo is not only one of the friendliest businessmen in SLC, but he also operates one of the greatest delis I have ever been to! The food is terrific and varied, they offer catering too! Also, the market next door is a DREAM for a foodie. Not to mention the Hot Counter Boy, Sam. He's the one usually taking orders in the Deli.

Pros: Food, Service, Atmosphere

Cons: The Park next door isn't the safest place ever...

The Caputo and the Meatball sandwiches are to die for. The service is pretty quick and place is generally full. You'll leave with a smile on your face.

Pros: Great Italian sandwiches

Cons: Location

They have great sandwiches. I have yet to order anything I did not like. The macaroni salad is also very good. We haven't tried the deserts but they look awesome. Its a pretty busy place so expect to be shuffled in one entrance and out another like cattle. Oh well. The ladies that take your order and money are very nice. The guys who make the food just kind of toss it at you when complete.

Pros: Great sandwiches and sides

Cons: Busy and closes early evening

So many tasty sandwiches and other lunch time yummies. Enjoyed everything I've tried. Parking is poor, and it can by busy. Try going early or late to avoid the crunch.

Pros: bright distinct flavors

Cons: crowded and poor parking

EXCELLENT MENU! NICE AUTHENTIC SANDWICHES AND SIDES! MAKES ME MISS THE INCREDIBLE ITALIAN DELIS ON THE EAST COAST! I CAN'T WAIT TO GO AGAIN! I BROUGHT MY CHILDREN WITH ME AND I FELT VERY COMFORTABLE. THEY EVEN SLICED UP A SANDWHICH IN SMALL BITE SIZES FOR MY CHILDREN. ONLY PROBLEM WAS FINDING TWO HIGH CHAIRS.

Pros: FLAVORFUL, INEXPENSIVE, MANY CHOICES

Cons: CROWDED AT LUNCH, LIMITED HIGH CHAIRS

I can't believe speciatly italian deli of this caliber is in Salt Lake. I've been around the country and I always make a point of going in Italian delis. There are less than a handful around the country as cool as Caputo's. Maybe a couple in San Fran or New York. For example, the market side (which is seperate from the lunch spot), has 9 types of prosciutto!

Pros: Best Sandwiches, Meats, Oils, Cheese, Grocery

Editor's Review

Hearty Italian sandwiches and salads are the specialties of this traditional deli on Salt Lake City's west side.  See the full editorial review.
