I always drove by Ginza with wonder. From the outside it doesn't appear to be the most chic place, but it truly is. The interior is beautiful, and much more spacious than you would assume from its facade. I am not a sushi expert- but have consumed my share of it, and was impressed with the rolls. I had the X-roll, and the baja roll, which was creative, spicy, and totally satisfying. Most assuredly would reccommend to savvy salt lake citizens!!!
Pros: Great selection of sushi/beverages, cheap, all around awesome
Cons: none, totally AWESOME

I eaten at Ginza for years. For my birthday on March 31st, my young son took me there. This was the first time I was ever treated bad. My order was wrong, the spices were wrong, I only got part of what I ordered, and had a hard time getting my server because she was on the phone. Not to mention that they were (workers) having a bet on how fast a piece of fish can get hot on a hot plate or oven, I could not see what they had the fish on. I finally got up asked for more napkins, let them know that what I ordered was all cabbage and the ordered was suppose to come with meat, mushrooms, shrimp and other items. The server told me that they like their cabbage, I told her, so do I, but I did not order cabbage and because the sauce was wrong I would like some chili powder or some waswabi, the server told me that they did not have any. I had to ask her 3 times for water by the time we got the water, we were standing up to leave. My son paid the bill to advoid any problems because it was my birthday, I did not say anything. However, I want Ginza to know that not only was I a loyal customer, refered people to your resturant, I will never come back again. We order two of your most expensive dishes, however, all I got was cabbage with a message that that is what others like who work there. The rice was cold and hard, we never got our egg rolls, nor did I get my dipping sauce that was suppose to come with my order.
Pros: used to look nice
Cons: there was construction happening when we were there, plastic hanging in front

Ginza has the best sushi EVER! I highly recommend getting the Miya roll. It is amazing! Also the X roll and mars twist are excellent.
Pros: Food
Cons: Small building

These sushi chefs are the best! I love the small atmosphere and relatively good service, depends on the night but the waitresses can be really friendly! One of my favorite places to eat.

Didn't look like it would be good and it wasn't. I know some people like these tiny, out of the way sushi joints, and that's ok if they have great sushi. Sadly the majority of time they do not, which is why they are out of the way. It can happen though which is why I tried it, but I will never go back.

Ginza has some of the best sushi in town! Although the restaurant is quite small, once you are seated and eating the size doesn't seem to matter. The miso soup is a great way to kick off your meal and I suggest trying the X-roll and the Mar's Twist. They also offer tasty dishes from the kitchen but sushi is the way to go. I highly recommend Ginza to anyone looking for a satisfying meal.
Pros: The sushi is great
Cons: The restaurant has few tables and can get quite busy

Now, looking at the location of this place is not going to tell me what kind of food is inside. The bleak, old looking exterior might fool you, but the sushi and the sukiyaki are the best that i have ever had. The liquor menu is minimal, only sake and beer and a little wine, but they have a sparkling sake that is fun to try! The chefs are very nice, the servers- some need more training, but our server this certain night was wonderful. Fridays are busy, and we know this, but we got the best service even for how busy she was. She seems as though she has worked there for a while, she knew the menu, the ingredients, and explained the different types of fish. it was amazing. the X roll is to die for, and the fubuki is wonderful! I would recommend this place to anyone. They are a small restaurant, but have great food and service. Go there!
Pros: Fresh fish, yummy noodle dishes
Cons: parking, supposedly they don't own the parking lot next door

New 2nd Location 12300 South 715 East. I'm sorry that the one customer complaint I see for the new location was for poor service. When My party of 3 ate there on 11/2/07 at 6:30 PM We were promptly seated, and water was on the table within 3 minutes. Then the high tech nature of their order taking caught my attention. They use PDA to take your orders, bill you and bring a check. Great service, great food, great atmosphere.....We rolled out of there after 1.5 hours of great sushi, rice bowls, and green eggs and ham.....delicious. Go there. 12300 So 715 East in Draper.
Pros: Great Service

I have eaten at the Ginza location downtown and have generally enjoyed the food and service. I was interested in the new Draper location and decided to try it. After being seated, we waited more than 15 minutes and were completely ignored. We weren't asked if we even wanted water! We got up to leave and on the way out I asked if I could speak to the manager. I was directed to the owner/manager behind the sushi bar. I told him that while I have been a customer of his downtown restaurant, we were leaving as we had been waiting a long time without service. Instead of directing service to us or even apologizing, he just said that they were understaffed. Note to owner: don't open a second location if you can't afford to staff it correctly! We will never go to Ginza again.
Pros: Don't know
Cons: Very poor service

My husband and I highly prefer Ginza over Ichiban. We have not had a problem with the staff, the rolls have always been tight and good and our food has always come to us quickly. Our favorite is the Green Eggs and Ham. I think the only downside of Ginza is the small building. It's a pretty tight squeeze around the sushi bar and there really aren't a whole lot of tables to sit at.
Pros: reasonable prices, tasty sushi
Cons: small area
