Best salmon
by mustang435
I grew up in the north west right on the coast and I have had some very good seafood and I must say that their salmon was some of the best i have ever had. The service was excellent we were seated Quickly. Very friendly staff. The only bad thing I have to say was that their broccoli was not cooked how I like it but most people like theirs a little crunchy. I would go their again.
- Pros: good food good service
- Cons: parking a little tight
Great wings and chicken fingers---avoid the seafood
by willicar
The wings and chicken strips are EXCELLANT!!! Wings are spicy and the chicken strips are juicy and tender. However, the seafood wasnt good. The grilled Halibut was overcooked and bland, as was the grilled salmon.
Great finger food but not a place to eat seafood.
Good beer.
Good service, attentive waitress, slow on the main course coming.
Great Customer Service, Great Food
by jesberaie
This place was a very pleasant surprise. I was a little worried to give it a try b/c some of the reviews said it had sub-par food. I decided to give it a try after I read in the Tribune it had the best fish and chips in the valley. The baked artichoke dip was absolutely delicious, and HUGE!! I ordered the Halibut fish and chips which I would recommend to anyone...it was fresh tasting and not greasy at all...as for the reviews for skimpy portions how anyone managed to finish their plates is beyond me. I had a beer as well that was good...can't seem to remember the name but they said it was like a Corona but an original brew. I was stuffed but our server told us we had to try the Bread Pudding and she was right...it is fabulous. Servers were really friendly...and seemed to enjoy their jobs...the bathrooms were clean which is something else I like to see when I am at a restaurant.. I will definitely go back again.
- Pros: Great Service, Huge portions of Tasty Food
- Cons: Long wait on Friday Night
A Real find for Microbreweries
by ProudProgressive
I am an admitted fan of Microbreweries. But this one was a total shot in the dark. We were running some errands on St. Paddy's day and my wife and I were hungry, so I suggested we find some place we hadn't been before and try it out. We were driving east on Fort Union boulevard and we passed Hoppers Grill, and decided that was a good choice.
As you can imagine, it was busy as hell for St. Paddy's day. Waiters and waitresses running around with green antennae, slinging green tinted corona beer (yuck) to every other table. They seated us immediately, and were very friendly. Not the plastic smile friendly, but real friendly.
I ordered their house stout, and my wife got their amber. Both were fabulous. I can see why they were award winners.
The waitress was really pleasant and efficient, took our drink orders and our dinner orders at once. In no time we got our beers, and much to the shock of both of us, got our dinner orders from another server in less than five minutes.
My wife's dish was the oriental salad with the seared ahi tuna kebobs. That ahi tuna just melted in my mouth. My dish was the battered shrimp with garlic mashed potatoes and cole slaw. The slaw was exceptional - really good stuff, not the usual stuff like you get at KFC. It was served on a large slice of cabbage that acted like a bowl. The best surprise with my dinner was the jalapeno jelly that came with it. It ROCKED. A perfect compliment to the shrimp.
Beforehand they served this fresh hot bread that was tasty as hell. In fact I was still munching on it after my main dish, as full as I was.
The staff at this place had it completely under control. The whole experience was flawless from beginning to end. I don't know how I missed this place for so long, being an epicurian aficianado as I am.
Please, go try it out. You will not be disappointed if you like good microbrews and pub food.
- Pros: Great atmosphere, great service
- Cons: Some of the staff seemed under age
poor service

Hoppers-cold-still frozen inside chicken wings-four times it happened-pizza crust that is sloppy-slow service-have sat at the abr for mor than 20 minutes several times w/o even seeing a bartender or server--the only beer they serve that is worth it is the porter-the place used to be a different restaurant and it not really set up efficiently as a brew pub-the servers station at the bar is in the path to the restrooms so you need to watch for servers taking beer from the bar to the tables w/o looking-they only do monthly specials not daily or weekly and they are not even original-hmm corn beef and cabbage during march for st patricks day-the place is owned by the same company that owns red robin and sizzler-so being a corporate entity they are not interested in good food and a nice atmosphere but more into making a quick profit-me rather go to squatters or red rock, bohemian if i'm in the mood for czech and austrian style food-also a good czech ale-or if I want a very good selection the bayou (private club with over 200 beers)
- Pros: the porter
- Cons: slow service, limited menu and fod not cooked properly
Crab omelet and sticky buns
by allkar
Lunch at Hoppers is ok but their Sunday brunch is delicious. The coffee is very good and they serve it with real cream which seems increasingly hard to find in resturants. You get a plate of 6 sticky buns when they seat you and I must warn you, they are addictive! I would eat the whole plate if I could. We always get the same thing, the crab omelet and a side of fruit. The omelet is big enough to share and it is filled with REAL crab meat, and tons of cheese, then topped with tomatoes and avocado. We like it with a side of hollandaise....SO good. The fruit varies every time but it is usually fresh and plentiful. There hasn't ever been a wait when we've gone either. Maybe I shouldn't be writing a good review of their brunch so we can keep it that way???
- Pros: Crab omelet and sticky buns
- Cons: stick with brunch...the rest of their menu is average
Great place
by kristelwk
We really like this restaurant. Seating is prompt. Service is fast. The food and beer is great. We came for breakfast on a Sunday and they give you complementary cinamon rolls which are great.
Quirky

They try hard to be different. Unfortunately it wasn't to my taste. Fried foods were the best of what I've tried. Their home brewed ginger ale and rootbeer are strongly flavored and can be offputting.
- Pros: fried foods
- Cons: strange flavors may not appeal
THE BEST Brew Pub in Utah!
by Blacksun
Hoppers has to be my favorite place in Salt Lake. They have some of the best beers there. The Madame-X Stout has the flavor of Guiness with NO aftertaste. The Hefe there is second to none.
Oh I almost forgot the food is magnificent the onion rings are to die for, I love the blackened Halibut, and the coconut shrip are great. definatly worth going to over and over again.
- Pros: Great Beer , Great Fish , Awesome Service
- Cons: NONE
Standard brewpub fare and good beer served in a casual atmosphere.
by Contributor
The Scene
A sporty brewpub with lots of lacquered hard wood, Hoppers looks like a Barnes and Noble outfitted with big TVs and trout art. Loud music, a half-dozen sports channels and the roar of the crowd offset the factory-furnished wooden interior.
The Food
Hoppers offers a wide variety of grilled entrées and pastas as well as sandwiches, pizzas and burgers. Nothing too original or fancy here. The appetizers are mostly of the deep-fried variety. Sandwiches include chicken with ham, bacon and cheese, and a grilled albacore tuna. There also are fish and chips, as well as barbecue ribs and seafood specialties. Hoppers' beer is brewed on the premises and a variety of the award-winning brews are served on a rotating basis. The porter and pale ale are excellent.
