Editorial Review for Kang Suh – by Justin Hartung
The Scene
This Koreatown staple nourishes families, tourists and post-karaoke parties 24 hours a day. The downstairs sports a sushi bar, while the upstairs sets a more stately scene with screened-in tables, each with a built-in gas grill and a blocky smoke hood hovering above. Service comes with smiles but also with little patience for translating the wall-mounted specials written in Korean.
The Food
The elephantine menu includes everything from sushi to massive bowls of soup, but English translations help with navigation. Complimentary starters like chili-drenched kimchee and silky tofu fill every inch of the table, and are perfectly supplemented by an order of plump, fried pork dumplings. Grilled at the table by diners, heavily marbled short ribs and ultra-fresh shrimp make tasty stuffing for lettuce wraps, although the meager portions rankle. Bi bim bop, though otherwise satisfying, lacks the traditional crunchy rice at the bottom. Desserts are limited to a few unexciting flavors of ice cream.

You don't go to Kang Suh for the ambiance or for the service. Putting those things aside, this place has the best Korean bbq in the city. It gets very crowded in the evenings and they try to rush you out to turn over the table, but the food is great. The food is also relatively expensive. For those who have cars and are perhaps driving into the city from NJ or CT, the garage adjacent to the building will give you 2 hours of free parking.
Pros: Food, moderately priced
Cons: Service is sometimes rushed, a lot of the staff doesn't speak English

If you like bad food and service then this is the place. For the sake of the food it is spicy b/c it distracts from the fact that the food just ain't that good. And the service is just plain incompetent.
