Good food, quiet setting.
I debated between 4 stars and 5 and finally decided on 5 with the explanation for my hesitation to follow.
I've now been here twice and must say I have really enjoyed Everest. Both the shrimp and the calamari tempura appetizers were yummy -- the dipping sauce adds a zing, the breading is light enough to allow you to taste the food it covers -- I'd recommend the tempura highly.
We enjoyed our Spicy Chicken and Vegetable Chow Mein dishes. I can handle a lot of spice and would say the Spicy Chicken was "Utah spicy" if you know what I mean -- but I was nevertheless very pleased with it as the sauce was quite flavorful, spicy but not hot.
We also ordered Shrimp With Snow Peas, but it was so salty I couldn't eat it. My tablemates agreed it was salty but had no problem eating the entire dish, though we did mention the saltiness to our server so he could inform the kitchen. To our surprise, when he brought the bill, he stated we were not being charged for that dish -- and the chef came out and apologized profusely for the problem with the salt and promised it would not happen again.
This kind of customer service ensures I will return to a restaurant as a loyal customer -- every restaurant has its bad days, unfortunately, but it's how the staff handles the problem that gets my attention.
We went for dinner so I can't comment on the lunch buffet -- but I can wholly endorse the dinner experience.
Some reviewers have said to try Himalaya Kitchen instead, and I love that place so I would definitely steer you there – but while playing on the mountain/Tibet theme, this menu is different and I would say not necessarily comparable to the menu at Himalaya Kitchen. Give it a try and judge for yourself!
This building seems to be cursed -- there have been great businesses in it over the years, and they don't seem to last -- so RUN, don't walk, and try Everest before the curse gets them too! If enough of you do so, the restaurant has a chance of making it long-term.
