So I have been waiting to go to Eva's since I read about it awhile ago. Walked in today for the first time, looking forward to Brunch with a friend. We were very excited about the decor, the menu, and looking forward to catching up. The experience turned out to be laughably disappointing. Love the model; but oh for the service. it was freezing inside but no matter we both had our bubble coats on. We giggled about it. And giggled again when the server told us they don't have cappucinos; we were still ok; no big deal but I did want a decaf; not a chance; still ok; so coffee (if I can limit to a couple) is fine too. Order, yak yak yak; waited and waited for food and usually when two gabby women are together they would not notice a half hour or so that goes by without even a biscuit but we were really hungry so we finally motioned to another server to help us since our server was now eating her breakfast too. We just wanted a coffee refill by now and on a Saturday morning the last thing you want is to ask for is a coffee refill not to mention having to beg for water refills. So ok, not a big deal; finally got our food and by the time it came we both burst out laughing; no explanation for that. Then, the real rub came when I got reprimanded for paying with cash; "we're not a bank you know" the server snarled. It seems our server struggled with what to do with bills. So we waited another 20 minutes or longer to receive our change. No apologies, no embarrassed smiles; just miffed employees. If the owner could maybe suggest or at least point out that cash is not against the law... yet it's what we old folks still use, then servers could save the insults and finish the day with an extra buck.
A hit and a HALF!. Great food. Weird service style. Kinda crammed in a small space. But that's efficient, right?
Great food, horrible service!. I dined at Eva recently and experienced some of the worst service ever. I sat down with my boyfriend and waited 10 minutes before anyone came and said anything to us. The hostess did fill up our waters but said nothing to us. Finally I went and asked her if we had a server. She said yeah she will be right there as if we hadn't already been waiting long enough. The hostess then comes to our table and says while you are waiting for your server I can take your drink order.. We just wanted water and she said "I guess I can just take your food order too". She acted like we were putting her out and inconveniencing her. So we ordered and then a different girl comes out with plates and still says nothing to us. So at this point I am thinking that girl must be our so-called server. Our food came out and our "server" just dropped our food and still said not one word. We eat, a busser picks up our plates and then we get the bill. The server never apologized, never introduced herself, never checked on us to see if we liked our meals, and did not even ask how is was when we were finished. If I ever want to eat at Eva again, I will only do take out. The food is absolutely amazing. I wish I would have tipped the cooks. I really would have appreciated a simple apology but I didn't even get that. Please Eva management consider getting new servers!!!
My absolute favorite. This restaurant is a little treasure in Salt Lake CIty, it is just divine! The menu is fantastic with all kinds of fresh & indulgent choices. Smaller portions so you can order several dishes and try a variety of things and share as well. The atmosphere is perfect, right on Main St and very contemporary. Lovely patio in the warmer weather. This is THE PLACE!
I could probably write a novel about how wonderful this restaurant is, however I don't want to ruin the surprise. The menu is very unique. The portions are fabulous. I would recommend ordering a few dishes per person and sharing, so that you get the opportunity to taste many dishes. The wine menu is amazing! The servers are very knowledgable about the wine selection.
This place is a must try!
