The Bayleaf has come down a notch in my personal estimation but the reason might be good news for you, if you don't have kids. The reason? We were told, on our last visit, the reason they discontinued their kid's menus was they get enough business with their new liquor license they no longer really care to serve families. Yep, that's right. We were politely told we could take our business, and our brats, elsewhere. Now, the food is still good, the servers are always friendly and the atmosphere is as grunge-chic as it always was, but if you have a family, the manager is not shy about telling you he doesn't need your business and, to quote him, "That's just the way it is."
PERFECT CAFE. This is a very cute clean cafe with AMAZING food!! I have eaten there numerous times and everything I have ordered has been absolute perfection!!!!!! The Waffles ar fluffy and HUGE, never burnt! The set up is very comfortable and its fun because you get to watch the cook prepare your food. They have great service and I reccomend them to EVERYONE!!!!!!!!
Great laid back downtown dining..
This is a small casual kind of place that is catching on quickly. They serve what they call comfort food, but I don't think it gives justice to the quality of the dishes. And they come in two tastes, one with a southern influence, that is particularly good with breakfast. The other is an Asian influence, and the Adobo Chicken is a great example.
It isn't a fancy place. But the quality of the food is astounding. And the staff are very cool, friendly people who pay attention to details. I recommend sitting at the bar, so you can watch the controlled chaos of the kitchen in front of you. I hope it's around for a long long time.
