disappointing customer service.
This is the email that we sent to Medtrina after our dinner there:
"We dined at your restuarant on Saturday, 9/17. Great food
However, there was a significant miscalulation on our final bill which we questioned, but was assured it was correct. Since you appeared to be very busy, we paid with our credit card but when we again looked at the bill, we realized it was still wrong. Here are the facts:
Food order:
Happy Hour special: $30.00
Fish Tapa: $10.00
Bruschetta of the Day: $6.00
Drunken Oreo: $5.00
Total for food: $51.00
Minus the Living Social voucher: $40.00
Total food bill should have been: $11.00
Plus $4.00 for a 2.5oz Willow wine and $4.00 2.5pz Trapiche Malbec = $8.00
Plus tax for entire meal: $4.49
Our final bill, according to our calulation with the Living Social voucher, should have been: $23.49, not $40.89
This is an overcharge/overpayment of $17.40
We would be happy to fax our receipts/voucher, if you need additional information.
We felt it only fair to contact you directly about this issue prior to contacting Living Social and prior to writing our review on dining websites. It was a lovely evening with wonderful food/service but was marred by this over charge which was not corrected even when brought to the attention of the waitperson."
Received no reply - sent a follow up email, still no reply - consider their behavrior unprofessional. We will never go there again and have warned our friends/family to avoid this restuarant.
An absolute gem!.
Don't be put off by the car park or the location (down by the Ball Park) this is an absolute gem. Many folks had recommended Meditrina so we decided to give it a go. Sat in the (a little bit limited) waiting area with a glass of wine awaiting our table and took in the buzzing ambience, a bit of a cold draft from the door, but it was single digits outside. I would imagine the patio area in the summer would be fabulous.
Once seated we were quickly greeted by our server who explained the way the small plates menu works as well as giving us updates on the specials for the night and information on the most popular dishes.
We ordered a collection of mainly vegetarian dishes:
Mushrooms and Brie - good but not spectacular
Patatas Bravas - grilled red potatoes with carmelized shallots, spicy tomato aioli, and chili oil. Terrific.
Curried Cauliflower - cauliflower with house made green curry, coconut milk, kafir and basmati rice. Sounds fairly ordinary but was so flavorful and amazing we ordered a second portion! One of the best dishes I've had in ages
Plus the one meat dish - Panko & Bacon crusted Pork Tenderloin over corn, butterbean, and turnip purée with candied pecans - simply divine!
And of course one couldn't leave without at least trying a dessert - Bruleed Bananas, as good as we imagined.
Top this all off with a pretty decent wine list and you get one of our new favorite restaurants in SLC - count us as regulars from now on
A fabulous dining experience. This place has it all, prompt staff, fun and eclectic ambiance, and most of all delicious food!! This was our first time here and it was fabulous. The small dishes make it fun to try a few different things, but you must try the scallops with squid ink noodles......mmmmmmmm. No doubt whatever you pick you will enjoy. I can't wait to go back, I'm already planning my next dishes :)
