Tips for Thornhill Park Apartments

May 03, 2013

I have lived at Thornhill since before they were Thornhill! (they used to be called Springhill). I have never been happier with an apartment complex. My neighbors are quiet, i never hear them and I work odd hours. Once in a while I will hear a door shut hard.. but that’s it!

They recently started accepting pets, which means I finally got to bring my kitty home with me!

I love the Management company and all the “girls” in the office, they are very friendly and helpful…. They have even walked me through the online rent payment more times than I can count. (one of these times I will remember how to do it!)

I have not one complaint about the mangament, maintenance, etc. I plan on staying until they don’t let me anymore lol!!!

I am happy I found thornhill…. They saved me tons of money… I had been staying in a hotel since I was going to be here for only 4 months, I couldn’t find an apartment complex that would offer a short lease. Luckily, I found thornhill. They offered me a lease as short as 2 months. I am so happy with my apartment here I am upset that I have to leace. I haven’t had any issues with noise, neighbors, or maintenance problems. I highly recommend thornhill to everyone!!!!

I stay here all the time and i love it. They rent out some of their apartments as hotel rooms. They are always clean and are HUGE for the price. We always stay here when we are in town for a show.

For the reviews that are upset that its not a standard hotel... i am not sure what you were expecting when you booked... but it looks like an apartment complex on all the sites i have used....

I HIGHLY recommend everyone to stay here!!!!

I love my apartment. We were looking for a nice apartment to move to when we got married. I found it in Thornhill. We were able to move in almost immediately (the background check took a little longer than I would have liked).

I haven't had any issues with the apartment or the office staff. They have been very helpful and have sent out maintenance to fix any issues.

I have been living at Thornhill Park (Springhill when I moved) for about 4 years now. I have enjoyed living here the entire time. The girls in the office are always very nice and helpful. The maintenance men are very helpful, and have helped me with several things around my apartment.

Recently, I fell and my doctor told me and that I no longer live on the 2nd floor… I was worried I would have to leave Thornhill, but they helped me transfer to a first floor apartment of the same style.

Thornhill has recently made a couple big changes, at first I was worried, but they have gone over amazingly well…. First they went to only online payments, then they started going non-smoking…. And now they are accepting pets. I haven’t seen any snaffuus from the changes.

I am very please with my residency here at Thornhill Park… I hope I can have many more.

I have lived at here for several years and have been pleased with my experience. They have always been willing to work with me when I get antsy and are looking to move. They have let me change apartments here a couple times and I have never had any issues.

In my very first apartment there was a leak from the ac vents, but maintenance came out and fixed it right away (even tho it was a Saturday)

The girls in the office are great, I love that they are open late.

They recently went to an all online rent payment system. I was worried at first, but now I love it.

I wish my parking stall was closer to my apartment, but there are always plenty of “guest” parking open, so I just park there!

I am glad that I finally got to move in here. I have been looking at this complex for a while as I work across the street at petsmart. They have always said tha they were pet free. However, they are now accepting pets!!! I put down my deposit and I am set to move in next week!!! They don’t have a weight limit either, which means my chocolate lab can come with me. Most places do allow him because he is over 50 lbs. This complex allows any size, they just have breed restrictions.

I haven’t moved in yet, however the office staff has been great (they even gave my dog a treat when we toured the model). They made the deposit process very easy and the application was approved the next day… waaaaaay faster than the last place I lived.

So far I am happy! I will update my review if anything changes!

I have enjoyed living here so far. I didn’t have the best neighbors when I first moved in, but they were kicked out and life has been much better.

I had an issue with my AC during the warmer months, but it turned out to be my fault… I was running it incorrectly and causing the pipes to freeze… I have always had a swamp cooler where you could just run and run it with no problems…. Central air is apparently different, but I know for next summer.

I moved in on a special and signed a year lease, I am glad cause the prices have gone up.. but that’s to be expected… like everything else.

I found these apartments on Apt ratings website. I read the reviews and decided to give it a try and It hold up to the great reviews and blows the bad reviews out of the water. I am not sure why they got the bad reviews, this property is great! The property is beautiful and lively.

The office staff was nothing but helpful and professional, I put my deposit down on the spot. They showed me the model which is gorgeous, then they took me to the ACTUAL UNIT I would be moving into. This surprised me, usually apartment complexes play the “bait and switch” but I got to see the apartment I will be moving into!!! Of course it wasn’t as pretty as the model, but it still looked great… it did smell of smoke tho.. The office staff said that they do allow smoking, which is unfortunate. They said they had a non-smoking building, but nothing was open when I needed it.

I haven’t had any issues so far, the move in did take a little longer than I would have liked, and their lease seemed long (it took about 45 minutes to get keys). As of now, Thornhill gets 5 stars in my book. I will update my review if anything changes. But right now, I’m happy!

We lived in Thornhill Park (previously Springhill Apartments) for a year. We originally signed a 6 month lease and was forced to renew whenever we couldn't find a different place to move. When we first moved in we had all kinds of issues - the knobs on the stove were broken, the toilet "ran" all the time, lights were out and the internet jack was all messed up (and required the internet company to come out and fix it). We later had washer/dryer issues and the water heater stopped working. Maintenance always came out within 1-2 days to fix things, but it was just a hassle having to call all the time. The summer we moved in, the pool was shut down because of pump problems and we often found that the hot tub was never cleaned and was broken often as well. There were a few times we would invite friends over only to walk down there and find cold water :(. Another major downfall is they allow smoking in the apartments - any apartment. Our neighbor smoked, profusely, and we were forced to buy an air purifier. It only helped sometimes, but during the winter we had to keep the bathroom and bedroom door shut because it would leak through really badly. Guests would think that we had been smoking! Our just over 500 square foot apartment had a rent increase of $50 a month, yes A MONTH when we went to resign our 6 month lease. We got them to waive it... But they increased it $106 A MONTH- that's almost $1300 a YEAR when our lease went up again. That's when we decided it was time to move on, for sure. So, we received our "Intent to vacate" notice on our door one day, we were out of town and brought the paper down to the office and turned it in. Before we moved out, we went down to the office and verfied our move out date and if we should expect any charges. They checked our paperwork and told us we should be good to go, as long as we cleaned thoroughly. So, we moved out on the day our lease ended, brought everything up to the office and, again, no one said anything to us. A week or so later we received a bill for $154 because we did not turn in our "Intent to vacate" form 60 days from the day our lease ended!!! What is crap is THEY provided the form 4 days AFTER the 60 day mark had passed! How shady is THAT?! NO where on the notice did it say that by not turning it in ASAP that you would be charged, OR did it say that you would already be charged because they provided the notice late. After trying to talk to management they wouldn't reply to any emails, and wouldn't budge in person. Apparently the notice is a courtesy --- in my opinion you aren't doing someone a favor by intentionally providing a notice once charges have ALREADY been incurred. A courtesy is a reminder BEFORE this happens. Our lease had been “adjusted” for +6 days (what’s the point of a lease then?!) which means WE moved out 6 days earlier than we had too, leaving them to rent it to someone NEW and to received DOUBLE rent on our apartment!!!

Clearly they are more concerned in operating a business than pleasing their tenants. If you move in, BEWARE. Take pictures of the apartment, and document everything and read through your 30+ page contract and make notes of each detail. They WILL nickel and dime you!
