Tips for Gold's Gym

June 06, 2012

On Monday 6/4/2012, my daughter went to Gold's gym to work out like she does everyday and her keys were missing from her gym bag in the locker room! She went out to her car thinking she left them in the car and there was NO CAR!!!! Her car was stolen and the girl at the counter she some shady girl came in and said she needed to look for her mom and the girl let her go through even though she wasn't a member of the gym!!! She went to the locker room and left a while later! People pay good money to be safe while they are working out. They don't want shady people that are not members walking around stealing from them! The girll that works at the counter should be liable for her stupid actions! Apparently they need to be trained a lot better since they don't care who they let in. This was at 5:00 AM, so they wasn't a lot of people there yet and she could have gotten on the intercalm and paged her instead of letting the thief in to steal from the customers! Stupid people at GOLDS!!! She is probably involved in the whole thing! WHAT EVER YOU DO, DO GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS! IF YOU DO, NO NEED TO LOCK YOUR CAR OR YOUR BELONGINGS UP, THE GIRL AT THE COUNTER WILL HAVE YOUR CAR STOLEN AND CREATE HAVIC IN YOUR LIFE! YOU SUCK GOLD'S GYM!!

Stay Away!!!!. Avoid all Gold's gym locations like the plague. The location I currently use in Sandy is going out of business and the other full gym location is almost ten miles away from my house and an express gym that has nothing for me as a heavy lifter...... and they wouldn't do a thing to let me out of the contract. So, I'm stuck with a contract for ten more months to a gym that no longer exists and no other close options. Customer service rep was more than rude on the phone and could obviously care less about the sitution. Sweet customer service and business plan!

HORRIBLE customer service at corporate offices. I am a member of Gold's and even got suckered into signing up for a trainer for once a month at a whopping $40 per month...My fault for falling for it.

I tried all day to contact someone in the finance dept on a Monday, 2 days before my auto draw. Could not reach anyone and even got disconnected the one time I could manage to get the call completed.

When I finally got someone the next day, they told me there was no way to stop the auto draw and they needed 2 days notice which the representative told me that was sent to the bank on Friday. Now even not counting the weekend, that still is 3 days.

Another issue I have with Golds is that during the sales pitch the twice yearly $15 maintanence fee is never discussed. I have talked to many friends that say the same thing. I guess it would'nt be a big deal if you saw the improvements being done in the gym.

I will tell everyone I know to stay away from Gold's.

By the way, I work in customer service and I know how to provide great customer service.

Way to go Gold's!!!! NOT!!!

meh crappy. i have been a member for almost 4 years and only visited the van winkle location and the sandy location. everything the other reviews say are true. poorly serviced machines, no one cleans the machines after use, waaaaay too many people there at peak times, the music is ridiculously loud and i have to blast out my ears if i wanna listen to my own headphones, employees are annoyingly persistent about renewing your contract, parking lot is always packed, trainers are retards.

on the flip side: most of the partons are kind, usually some good eye candy , large selection of equipment, large parkinglot but not large enough at peak times,

The only reason to go here is if its close to your house.

worst gym in the valley. over the past 10 years i have been a member and or worked out at every gym in the state. Never have I been as disappointing or frustrated as I have been with this gym.

1: my car was broken into and about 500 dollars of my personal belongings were stolen during PEAK HOURS about 2 months ago.

2: my son was neglected in their day care that resulted in a another child hitting him repeatedly. Not to mention its filthy in there!

3: during January this year at peak times of 7-8 to get on the right equipment. is a joke.

WORST GYM EVER. Basically I bought 25 sessions for personal training. While I ended up getting pregnant and I was told my sessions would never Expire! Well when I was ready to go back, I was told they expired because they bought out the 3rd party company i bought my sessions from! I will be contacting the BBB regarding this matter.

I'm not even sure why I returned after 2 girls in my office got staff infection from that Gym.. It really is that DIRTY!

Gym Fail.. This gym looks great from the outside, has nice-looking facilities, but spend just 90 days working out regularly there and you'll find that they don't spend enough time or money keeping up the equipment on the floor, their staff is instructed (or takes it upon themselves?) to make shady deals, and they do not care about anything but collecting contracts. Just skip even checking this place out. Terrible.

So Far So Good. I have to say that so far so good for the Golds Gym on Van Winkle. I take a power flex class twice a week from Trish and Michelle. They Rock! Always concerned with the people in their classes. I also take a spin class once a week from Jill. Very fun class, and she is also considerate of the people in her class. It is fun to go to these classes, and the instructors are good at making sure that you are using the proper form. I have never used a personal trainer here. I have had a couple of consultations. The first guy was annoying and constantly bugged me so I never signed up. The most recent consulation was from a guy named Jaron Krause. He seemed very sincere, and no pressure. When I can afford a persnal trainer, I will look him up. After reading the other reviews, it may be awhile.

Nice Facilities/Terrible Staff. Do not use the personal trainers at this gym. They are great at texting, showing up late, and working biceps but nothing else.

The contracts are sneaky and dishonest. The employees will agree with you, they are designed this way.

Aside from having poor customer service, the staff is also dishonest and will flat out lie to you about terms of your membership to encourage you to extend your contract. I spoke to one person to was adamant about several things that I confirmed with another employee were not true in the least.

Don't be fooled by the bright colors and tv's. This is an awful gym and you should look elsewhere.

BEWARE YOU MAY BE RIPPED OFF!!!. I WENT TO THE GYM AND HAD MY LOCKER BROKEN INTO, LOST ALL THE CONTENTS, HAD MY CAR STOLEN FROM THEIR PARKING LOT. WHEN I WENT IN TO TELL THEM PLEASE CALL 911 SOMEONE ALSO STOLE MY CAR THEY WOULD NOT LET ME. AFTER 10 MINUTES OF ARGUING THE FINALLY DID. I HAVE SINCE FOUND THAT EVERY DAY SOMEONE IS HAVING THINGS STOLEN FROM THEIR LOCATION AS WELL AS OTHER LOCATIONS AROUND THE STATE.YOUR CAR AND YOUR BELONGINGS ARE NOT SAFE FROM THE STAFF, OR ???.... BEWARE OF GOLD'S !!!
