Excellent Sushi; Mediocre Service; Low Prices

by DWroe

This small, family owned sushi joint focuses mostly on rolls and sashimi, in what appears to be an old Arby's or something along those lines, is on the busy corner of 7th East and 33rd South, and is easy to miss, but regrettable if you do.

The lack of funding on decorations if the first not-so-great impression you get when you walk in. Then, it may take a minute or five before you get seated, but don't worry, you can grab your own menu--they're within reach. The next surprise is a great one--the low prices are a wonderful. Based on the lack of decor and the dubious service, you may wonder if you really can order that extra roll or two for the money you will be saving by eating here. THE ANSWER IS YES YES YES!

The menu is roll and sashimi focused, but there are the standard teriyaki chicken, fried shrimp, sweet and sour soup, etc., but really, this is a sushi restaurant. There is also a small selection of items for children. Although the prices may be lower, don’t let that scare you way. The food here is amazing, but the quality is what keeps you coming back for more and more. I love Mars Roll and the Funky Charlie Roll, extra Wasabi, hold the Ginger. The young lady at the front knows my name, phone number, voice, and what has been going on in my life, where I’ve been traveling, and who I’ve been hanging out with for the past couple years—not because she asks, but because I am in there so often with friends or family. See if you can fool her—call and ask for a Funky Charley and a Mars Roll, extra wasabi, no ginger, and I’ll bet you she’ll catch on even before she picks up the phone to take your order (yes, take out is available, but alas, delivery is not). I give this place two copyrighted digits up!

  • Pros: Cheap Sushi
  • Cons: Not a lot of Decor

Excellant Sushi

by Tiffers

This is our favorite restaurant. My husband & I come here often. The only time it's been busy was Valentines Day. It is a family business & we see the same people everytime.

I especially like the Wasabi roll. We also like the Rainbow roll, sashmi, meso soup, and any tempura. We try something diferent each time.

Only one time have we questioned the bill. But the service is good & the food is excellent!

  • Pros: Fantastic Rolls
  • Cons: Check your bill

The owner is rude and the service was bad

by AyuFan801

I went with a group of friends and we were the only ones in the restaurant but the owner gave us an attitude like she didn't want us there in the first place, it seem like we were wasting her time or something. She sat us down and told us we had to order and get our food before our other friends came, we thought it was really ridiculous. The waitress was really nice but the whole time the owner was giving us dirty looks. The sushi was okay some of it tasted really old and not fresh fish. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone!!

  • Pros: The sushi was avergae
  • Cons: The service, owner can care-less about her business
