Tips for Ganesh Indian Cuisine

The best Indian cuisine in Utah, hands down.. We heard about Ganesh from a friend who highly recommended it. So we happened to be driving by on a Sunday and decided to stop in. They were offering their Chaat Sunday buffet. There were a lot of great offerings and they all tasted fresh and flavorful. The price was very reasonable and the service was very good.

Later that week, we returned to Ganesh to try their entrees. We’re big fans of Thali-style Indian dining and Ganesh is one of the few places in town that offer it. (Thali-style gives you the entrée plus 3 small side dishes and dessert.) Both of our dinners were wonderful. They tasted great and the service was prompt and friendly. Since Ganesh was close to our home, we’d found a new favorite.

Now when we decide to go out to dinner, it’s hard not to go to Ganesh. We’ve tried practically everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. Our favorites are the Shahi Paneer, Daal Curry, and Baigan Bhartha. We usually order the vegetarian dishes, but we will also order non-veggie items like Egg Curry and Chicken Tikki Masala. The staff is diligent in asking how spicy you want your dish on a scale of mild, medium, or hot. But you should know that hot is an authentic Indian hot, not a “Utah hot”. So if you’re sensitive to spicy food, I would recommend mild or medium. But if your thermostat is set higher than normal (like mine), go hot. You’ll love it!

You can also order a Mango Lassi (a traditional Indian yogurt drink) or, if so inclined, a Taj Mahal lager beer. (Taj Mahals are HUGE and the staff at Ganesh will gladly let you split one.)

We usually go to Ganesh for dinner, but we’ve also stopped in for their weekday lunch buffet. There are plenty of choices and are always well stocked. It’s so nice to take friends and family there and know that there will be lots to choose from, veggie and non-veggie alike. Plus, I know that I can pick up the tab without breaking the bank.

Lastly, I can’t remember ever getting a dirty plate, glass, or utensil. These moments are bound to happen at any restaurant, but we’ve never had it happen at Ganesh.

If you already love Indian food, you’ll love Ganesh. However, if you’re new to Indian food and are looking to expand your horizons, go to Ganesh first. You might as well start at the top.

Don't let the outside fool you. I love the food here and I don't know what the other reviewers are talking about. It's great food, better than Bombay House even. I think the atmosphere is really lackluster and the soda was flat when I was there last time, but when the food is that good you can make allowances.

Ganesh was a DISASTER - Don't ever go there!. Take my advice... Don't go to Ganesh... it's horrible...

1) The food was terrible... we ordered Gobi Manchurian, and we go a lump of brown goo on a small saucer like plate.

2) The pakodas were like small crumbs of uncooked leftovers...

3) The hostess - there were two - the younger woman was nice... the older lady was a witch... she had the most unpleasant disposition and she behaved very poorly. We were so disappointed with the crudeness of her behavior that the motivation to enjoy the food was lost.

4) the rice was overcooked and gummy

5) And to top it all, it was awefully expensive... 95 bucks for 3 people... are u kidding me? for the kind of S*&$ we got...

I would never ever reccomend this place to any one. I sincerely hope they go outta business.

Great Indian Cuisine. Ganesh is a small little place in Fort Union. I have eaten there several times including their lunch buffet and I always enjoy it. Very authentic and a great price. Their sampler/combo meal is fantastic! You get a little bit of everything and it is the perfect size. You can't go wrong with Ganesh!
