The Scene
Choose from a trio of dining rooms, all lined with original German art-deco prints. Professional, friendly servers bustle about the rooms, not the least overbearing. Owner Nancy Shepherd brings Louisville charm to the tables as she makes her nightly rounds.
The Food
Keep in mind that whichever entree you order, they're all the same price, a bargain for such dishes as grilled duck or lobster in phyllo. Favorites like baked Brie or tender, garlicky escargots are pleasing in a traditional way. Tender veal scaloppine smothered in rich peppery gravy has topped the list for over 20 years. Wild mushroom mashed potatoes and fresh seasonal vegetables pair perfectly with the entrees. Take note of the decadent desserts on your way in: The chocolate Concorde with its layers of chocolate mousse and meringue and the multilayered strawberry Napoleon are irresistible.

We have lived in Louisville for 15 years. Cafe Metro has consistently been our favorite restaurant here during that time. And, we eat out a lot and have eaten at each of the "four star" restaurants in Louisville multiple times. Never an unpleasant surprise. I don't know how you could ask for more. Top top quality at a moderate price. Both entres and desserts are outstanding.
