Tips for Beehive Appliance Repair

January 09, 2013

Like others who have had the misfortune of dealing with Beehive Appliance Service, I to was charged $70 for Dean--the man who takes "great pride in honesty and integrity", by his own admission--to come out and tell my wife my ice maker was broken.

He then told my wife that it would be $200 for an aftermarket ice maker, more than 3x the price found at many online retailers. The quoted $200, incidentally, did not include any labor or another $70 service fee that would be charged when the part arrived.

After speaking with Dean on the phone regarding my concern, I asked him if he "honestly felt good about charging $70 to simply diagnose a problem we already knew existed without actually doing any repairs", to which he replied that he "absolutely did".

If you suspect your appliance is broken, try and find someone that does a free estimate, a minimal diagnostic fee, or will actually fix it/replace it on the day. Paying $70 for a man to come out and tell me that my appliance is broken, especially when I told him it was broken in the first place, is completely ridiculous.

Very happy with this company!. I almost never write reviews but felt compelled this time. Dean Dahle arrived and repaired my clothes dryer so quickly and gave me excellent advice on how to keep it running in tip top shape. I had asked around at work to get recommendations of trustworthy and efficient appliance repair outfits. Beehive was mentioned as being the best so I followed up, and am so glad I did. I will use Beehive exclusively for any appliance problems I may have down the road. So nice to have peace of mind and know you are being treated fairly. Thanks Dean!

LOVE THIS COMPANY! GREAT EXPERIENCE!. I hardly ever write reviews, but because of the negative review on this page, I felt the need to stand up for this company! I recently had a problem with my washing machine so I did some asking around and was refferred to this company. I also printed off a coupon from their website that I was able to use! Being a woman I'm always concerned about who I let into my home and Dean made me feel so comfortable. He was clean cut, in uniform, with a great sence of humor and a contagious laugh! Such a nice guy! He was on time and was able to fix my washing machine in less than 30 mins. He also gave me helpful tips on how to keep my washer in better condition!

This is a great family owned business that I intend on coming back to if I need more work done! Thanks Dean!

P.S. The receptionist even gave me the number of their wholesaler for a new fridege I've been trying to save for! VERY NICE PEOPLE!

Pretty unimpressed.... I called Beehive Appliance Service regarding a problem with a dishwasher issue. I was charged $69 only to be told that the dishwasher had been loaded incorrectly and that there was some serious soap build up. He sat there and scraped some build-up with a screwdriver then I was then told to go buy muriatic acid and do a treatment myself. I thought that since nothing had been repaired (the reason I called) and I had not purchased anything from them, they would not charge me or I would only be charged only a portion of the price. I feel like $69 is pretty steep for a trip/diagnostic charge.

Unfortunately the check I provided bounced and instead of calling to inform me and work out a solution, I was left a message telling me that if they didn't receive payment immediately, they were going to have to send the issue to collections. That response, I believe, is only warranted when a significant amount of time has passed without being paid or there have been multiple problems. 1) You shouldn't make a client feel ashamed for calling and 2) there is no need to threaten a client.

I wish I had never called Beehive Appliance Service. With all the help he gave, I could have done a little searching online and saved myself $69.
