Set in Scotland during the Axis surge into Europe, this movie tells the story of a young boy who discovers an egg of a baby "Lochness Monster" / Water Horse near his home (or castle) near the sea. There are two or three stories going on at the same time We learn about the troubles within the boy's family as the war takes a toll on the life's of everyone in the town. We also discover a growing love between the boy and the baby Water Horse, while everyone else in town focuses elsewhere. The storytelling is excellent and the scenary and imagary is unsurpassed in any movie I have seen recently. Although the Water Horse himself is not "cute and cuddly", the audience definitely will develop a close bond with both the Water Horse and the boy, as the plot progresses. The storyline, the plot remind me a little of E.T., so you can feel comfortable that your child will enjoy this movie along with the adults that tag along. I really enjoyed this movie, and rarely dish out 5s, so this is a good one!
Pros: Scenary, plot
Cons: Ugly hero
