Expectations went above and beyond.
I was referred to Lunatic Fringe by a friend of mine, so I jumped on City Search to see what it was about. It far exceeded all of my expectations. I called and discussed with the receptionist what my needs were and she recommended Peggy as a wonderful stylist. She was extremely knowledgeable and honest with me in regards to what my hair was capable of doing. I left with what I would call the "Ideal customer experience", from the moment I walked in the door, down to having 2 people blowdry my hair. The shampoo was out of this world and the staff was even better. I have never had so much fun at a salon and Lunatic Fringe, you have a client for life!
I LOVE MY KERASTASE PRODUCTS!
I threw up in my mouth.. If i was able to give this negative stars i would. I have never felt more uncomfortable in my life. The conversations that were being held were absolutely disgusting. I didn't have anything to add to the revolting discussions about the lifestyles maintained by the so called rockstar hairstylists. I have heard they pride themselves on having such an uplifting and positive atmosphere or what they refer to as their "culture", unfortunately it was anything but any of the things previously mentioned. There was one ridiculous stylist, who by the way i am pretty sure has only used shampoo on his clients and never on himself, that had the worst language of them all. You can understand my shock when I found out he was a MANAGER!!!!! If it wasn't for the fact that I had color in my hair i would have walked out and went directly home to bathe myself in handsanitizer because how gross my soul felt. Don't get me wrong I am a "to each their own" kinda person, however I am also a firm believer in keeping a profesional establishment professional. Call me crazy.
Great place!!. I have been bouncing around from hair dresser to hair dresser and decided to give Lunatic Fringe a try. I came in about two weeks ago and ended up with a wonderful hair cut and color. My stylist listenend to what I wanted and gave her opinion and the end result was just what I had envisioned for my hair! At the end of my service my stylist gave me a list of the products she recommended for me to buy. I didn't feel pressured to buy any of them but it was nice to have the list in case I wanted to come back and get them. I will definitly go back and I would also reccommend this place to anyone!!
What happened?. I used to love this salon, but not anymore. It is awful! No one knows what they are doing and yet they all think that they are fantastic. All of the advanced stylists have left and no one there has been doing hair for over two years. I tried other stylists but they always fell short. And after this last time I will not be going back!!! If you want to look good.... don't go here!!!
This is one classy joint.
I went to lunatic fringe this week and I LOVE my hair. it was my first time going and a friend recommended it to me. She told me she's never liked her hair as much as she does now so I had to give it a try.
They offered me a drink as soon as i walked in and I got a bottle of Voss water!
I've been wearing my hair dark for a while and I told my stylist I'd like to be blonde again.
She told me what was realistic and what would look good against my skin. when it was finished it was beautiful and I even had two people styling and drying my hair for me. My stylist was so much fun and everyone there seemed to really love what they do. There was good energy. I already reserved a spot for my next appointment! I'm going to tell all my friends to go to this salon. if you want to love your hair more than you ever have before I highly recommend it!
If you want to look like a Clown or a Freak...this is the salon for you..
If you like Normal hair colors STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!
Right when I walked into the salon I was worried. There was not one single person in the place with a normal or pretty hair color....it was a freak show!!! There were several girls in there with Grey hair. Im sorry but young girls with white-grey hair is NOT attractive. Nor is purple-red hair that looks like it was dyed with coolaid.
But I should have run out the door when I met my stylist. she had the ugliest hair....it was dirty for one thing but the color was just repulsive. Just picture multi shades of burnt orange, yellow and brown.
Well I asked my stylist (who was suposed to be a expert hair colorest) to just make the roots match the rest of my blonde hair and to blend it together nicely. Instead I got Bright Orange-Yellow hair on the top of my head. And then when she was finished mutilating my hair and i was nearly in tears she tried to tell me that it was a perfect match to the bottom. IT WAS NOTHING LIKE THE BOTTOM. She made my hair look like it came out of a crayon box. It is a A horrible, unatural Bright Orange-yellow! I look like a freak! And not only that but she painted just my roots in some spots in huge patches and didn't even bring the color down through the rest of the hair....so I have huge patches of bright yellow from my head to about one inch out. Its HORRIBLE!!!!!
And when I called to talk to the manager about what she had done to my hair, she told me "it can be shocking to go to a different color".....well thats just it....I wasn't trying to go to a different color, she was just suposed to match the blonde hair I already had!!!
If you like looking like a clown this is the perfect salon for you, but if you like looking like a normal human being....STAY AWAY FROM THIS DUMP!
I LOVE YOU LUNATIC FRINGE BUT....... I will no longer be able to get my hair done here. $230.00 is way to much to charge for a simple cut and color.
Too much $$$ for mediocrity. The only thing bigger than their prices here are their egos. The whole chain of lunatic fringe is pumped full of over priced mediocre children trying to do hair.
Big Marketing. Big Promise. Really Big Price.. I'm a consumer and I like well marketed products, but i found this salon a bit over the top. Great website, nice phone manners from the 'salon coordinator'. However, I was quoted base price of $150 for cut and color, about $25 more than i normally pay and well above the rates quoted on their web site. In talking with the 'salon coordinator' i figured my cost would actually exceed $200 for the dimensional color i wanted. Wow. In this economy? I was not surprised that the master stylist i was offered at that price actually has openings.........and she can get me in tomorrow! Of course she can, not many people lining up for $200 cut and color! Come on, Lunatic Fringe, is anyone that lunatic? I mean, the number of salons in salt lake city it outnumbered only by the number of ward houses....i believe in paying for quality services--who wants bad hair---but i found your prices and your yen for marketing simply too much.
Great experience!. I made an appointment with David and I told him I wanted a trim and color. I wanted to go quite a bit darker than my natural hair color. I picked out a color from their chart and David advised me that it was way too dark for me. He picked a color that he thought would work well with my skin tone and eye color. The color is absolutely amazing! It is a lot darker than it was and it is dimensional and shiny. My hair cut is fabulous too. In fact I was at Nordstrom and a lady told me my haircut was stunning! I love it.
