Kelli was my stylist. She did a phenomenal job!!! Everyone was very courteous. I will definitely recommend them and will return again ;)
Horrible Stylist's.
I went to the 21 south salon in Sugarhouse. I was recommeneded by a friend to see Jake their top stylist and was famous in the hair world. I was stoked and was totally fine with paying the price for an amazing stylist. I was beyond wrong, he not only screwed my hair beyond up he didn't talk the whole time! I understand stylist's get in the groove of their work but after the consultation (that he didn't even listen too) he was silent.
I also understand that stylists get busy and need help, but for what I am paying for, I expect the stylist to take 15 minutes out of their time to wash my hair. Good thing the cute assistant was a sweetheart and could actually hold a conversation.
When it came to my hair cut he totally ignored the fact that I have curly hair and it will shrink when dried. So I left with the strangest hair cut and at least 2 inches shorter then what I asked for. Thank god for Landis on 13th for fixing my hair or I would probably still be upset.
This salon is beautiful on the inside, but they should think about having better stylist's for their price. Just because you own the building doesn't necessarily mean you are good at what you do, Jake.
terrible service and experience.
I called on a whim to get my hair dyed at this location on 2100. Now to be fair, I asked for a midnight blue and being Asian, my dark hair doesn't take well to dyes. Nonetheless, due to the overwhelmingly great reviews this placed received, I gave them a call with the understanding they have the resources and experience to try and make it happen.
The stylist was not only awkward but terribly unhelpful and clearly not good at doing her job. She tried to dye my hair immediately without stripping/bleaching it first, something even I--someone with no experience in hair, knows you need to do. But I let her go ahead since she was supposed to be the specialist. It didn't work. My hair was jet black. But she offered a second appointment to which I agreed. I went in, she dyed it again. Still didn't work. Stylist did not offer constructive and professional feedback or suggestions but instead went ahead and charged me $70 for making me look like a 14 year old angst-y teenager. (My hair hasn't been jet black for over 15 years).
This salon is overpriced and overhyped. Aveda @The Gateway AND Absinthe are both better and more reasonably priced for a professional and creative experience. It wasn't even worth the one star I gave it and I am completely beyond myself for letting them charge me THAT much for something I could have done for 1/10 of the price at home...and additionally, DID NOT WANT.
Steven is a genius. No other stylist has made me feel this awesome about myself and my hair. Steven was straightforward about everything, explaining what he was doing and the products he used and why. He also gave THE BEST hair and neck massage. He has made me a loyal customer for life.
Mixed feelings. Nice salon, but maybe i hadn't been lucky? Did not get a good service... Overpriced for a service...
management is ridiculous!. All of there talented stylists for all locations have either been let go or have left!
up to date and educational. I made an appointment at the Parley's Way location and the salon coordinator booked me an appointment with Jen. As soon as I came into the salon, I was greeted and offered something to drink. When I met Jen she was polite and well mannered. The consultation was thorough and she was able to take my ideas and hers and create a look that was most flattering to my face shape, coloring of my face, and texture of my hair. I appreciated the fact that she advised me to put on a smock underneath the cape to give extra protection to my clothing. She also kept an appropriate, yet interesting conversation going the whole time. She recommended products to me and educated me on their benefits and usage without being overbearing and even introduced me to their Fringe Benefits program where you can accumulate points to recieve free products or services. It was busy and loud, but to me that expresses the point that Lunatic Fringe is up to date on their knowledge of what is "in" and that the stylists love their jobs. I am so happy with the outcome and the overall experience. Thanks for everything Lunatic Fringe and Jen!
Thank God for Peggy. I had my hair brown and wanted to go back to blond. I won't be rude and mention the salon that turned my hair orange, dark brown and blond. this was on a Monday. Wed they tried to fix the mess but just made another mess!!! I finally called Lunatic Frindge and said I needed some help! They gave me Peggy. Thank you Thank you so much is all I can say. Peggy is amazing! I have found my new color expert!
Love, love, love this place. I went for my first time this week and turned my hair over to Peggy in Sugarhouse. It is the BEST color and cut I have ever had and WELL worth the money. People have told me they have NEVER seen my hair look so great. I am thrilled to FINALLY be happy with my hair and my husband said it is my best hair cut/color in the 38 years we've been married. Thanks Peggy! I hope Peggy stays around until I'm dead and buried. ;)
Money suckers!!!. I went to get the hair color and she did not do the right color. I asked her to fix it and told her that I wil not pay her unless she fixes it. She messed up my hair...my hair has been falling out like crazy since then...it is the branch at parley way ..this their customer service.
