Kelli was my stylist. She did a phenomenal job!!! Everyone was very courteous. I will definitely recommend them and will return again ;)
Horrible Stylist's.
I went to the 21 south salon in Sugarhouse. I was recommeneded by a friend to see Jake their top stylist and was famous in the hair world. I was stoked and was totally fine with paying the price for
an amazing stylist. I was beyond wrong, he not only screwed my hair beyond up he didn't talk the whole time! I understand stylist's get in the groove of their work but after the consultation (that he didn't even listen too) he was silent.
I also understand that stylists get busy and need help, but for what I am paying for, I expect the stylist to take 15 minutes out of their time to wash my hair. Good thing the cute assistant was a sweetheart and could actually hold a conversation.
When it came to my hair cut he totally ignored the fact that I have curly hair and it will shrink when dried. So I left with the strangest hair cut and at least 2 inches shorter then what I asked for. Thank god for Landis on 13th for fixing my hair or I would probably still be upset.
This salon is beautiful on the inside, but they should think about having better stylist's for their price. Just because you own the building doesn't necessarily mean you are good at what you do, Jake.…
terrible service and experience.
I called on a whim to get my hair dyed at this location on 2100. Now to be fair, I asked for a midnight blue and being Asian, my dark hair doesn't take well to dyes. Nonetheless, due to the
overwhelmingly great reviews this placed received, I gave them a call with the understanding they have the resources and experience to try and make it happen.
The stylist was not only awkward but terribly unhelpful and clearly not good at doing her job. She tried to dye my hair immediately without stripping/bleaching it first, something even I--someone with no experience in hair, knows you need to do. But I let her go ahead since she was supposed to be the specialist. It didn't work. My hair was jet black. But she offered a second appointment to which I agreed. I went in, she dyed it again. Still didn't work. Stylist did not offer constructive and professional feedback or suggestions but instead went ahead and charged me $70 for making me look like a 14 year old angst-y teenager. (My hair hasn't been jet black for over 15 years).
This salon is overpriced and overhyped. Aveda @The Gateway AND Absinthe are both better and more reasonably priced for a professional and creative experience. It wasn't even worth the one star I gave it and I am completely beyond myself for letting them charge me THAT much for something I could have done for 1/10 of the price at home...and additionally, DID NOT WANT.…
Steven is a genius. No other stylist has made me feel this awesome about myself and my hair. Steven was straightforward about everything, explaining what he was doing and the products he used and why. He also gave THE BEST hair and neck massage. He has made me a loyal customer for life.…
Mixed feelings. Nice salon, but maybe i hadn't been lucky? Did not get a good service... Overpriced for a service...
