BIG disappointment. This restaurant once had a lovely lunch buffet for $9. They have done away with it, so I decided to try the take out. Bought 3 entrees and an appetizer for a family dinner -- it was ridiculously expensive at $48. The quality went downhill. The appetizers tasted like they had been on a warmer for a week. The chana coconut masala's chickpeas were crunchy rather than tender. The portions were small except for a boat load of rice. Will not be returning.
Absolutely the best Hands Down!!!! – I've ate at every Indian joint in the valley and Punjab is leaps and bounds better than anything out there. My favorite is the Chicken Tikka Masala and the Chicken Coconut Korma. If you haven't tried the Peshwari naan than you haven't lived.
Best indian food in utah!!! – Taste of punjab is easily the best indian food in all of utah.
My wife and I have tried them ALL, and this one is consistenly the best. Everything is good, flavorful, etc.
Just walking in smells so delicious it makes my mouth water.
One of our top favs – We get food from this place almost once a month. We always get 2-3 dishes and 2 naan's. We had to work up to their "spicy" and it was worth the wait. We find ourselves craving this food all the time. You can always get it to go if you hate the wait. But ALL GOOD FOOD is worth the wait. Seriously yum yum yum.... now I want me some.
Worth the Wait – I live surrounded by Indian restaurants in downtown Salt Lake but make the trip out to Sandy whenever I want Indian food. It's always same two guys and I have to wait awhile, but it is so-- worth the wait. NO SOUPY BLAND CURRIES SO HERE. PUNJAB'S SPICY IS SPICY, THE CURRIES THICK AND RICH, AND EVERYTHING ITEM HAS IT'S OWN FLAVOR. I highly recommend their tandoori chicken, paneer masala, and plain lassi. Great selection of vegetarian options as well.
Great indian food – Just a little restaurant with the same two guys everytime I go there. The food is great, but if they get busy, the wait can be a little while.
Probably the best Indian in Salt Lake – I've tried all the Indian Restaurants in the Salt Lake area. This one is my favorite hands down. Sometimes the service is not the fastest, but the food is always in top form and worth the wait. Their lunch buffet is also awesome.
Awesome! There's no looking back! – I haven't eaten better Indian food anywhere. Not in New Jersey, not in CA. The food is brilliant. The service is polite and wonderful! The naans are to die for. I don't eat meat so I can't particularly comment on the murg and the gosht but the veggies are divine. The kulfi is sinfully yummy. I am impressed.
Also, when we went, they were playing some beautiful ghazals and my husband just curiously inquired about who the artist performing was. To our surprise, the guy helping with the service had burnt a CD with the music and handed it to us when we were paying for our dinner!
I have been vehemently recommending this place to everyone I know. You must go! You won't regret one bit!
Still great food - very poor service – We love the food and go here more than anywhere other than Sushi Express. Given that most people that review Taste Of Punjab mention the very poor slow service, you'd think they'd fix it.
The food is still fantastic - the service is still just awful. We waited 90 minutes to eat last time. We had to ask repeatedly for water and the check. They aren't hostile or anything, just very bad at customer service.
Take your patience and enjoy the truly wonderful food.
Delicious food but with slow service – The food here is great, I luv the chickpea masala. The lunch buffets are good, and so are the mango lassies. However, we went for dinner and it took 10 minutes to get menus and 1.5 hours to get our food. While we were there, a family came in and sat down & their food was served within minutes. Turns out they had actually called their order ahead of time. I would definitely recommend the place, but you might want to bring a magazine or novel with if going for dinner.
